PRINCE2F Quick Quiz — 10 Questions

Question 1

Which THREE of the following are PRINCE2 practices (themes)?

Accepted Answer

Risk. In PRINCE2, the seven themes (now called practices in PRINCE2 2017) describe aspects of project management that must be addressed continually, and Risk (B), Quality (D), and Business Case (E) are three of them. Risk (B) is correct because PRINCE2 requires a Risk theme/practice covering risk identification, assessment, and response throughout the project. Quality (D) is correct because the Quality theme/practice defines how the project will verify that products meet requirements and achieve fitness for purpose. Business Case (E) is correct because the Business Case theme/practice ensures the project remains desirable, viable, and achievable, justifying continued investment. Waterfall (A) is not a PRINCE2 theme but a sequential development approach, and Sprint Planning (C) is a Scrum event, not a PRINCE2 practice.

Answer

Waterfall

Answer

Sprint Planning

Question 2

Which of the following is a key difference between a Request for Change and an Off-specification?

Accepted Answer

A Request for Change proposes a modification to an agreed product, while an Off-specification identifies a product that does not meet its specification.. In PRINCE2, a Request for Change (RFC) is a proposal to modify an already baselined product, while an Off-specification is a report that a product has been delivered but does not meet its agreed specification. Both are issue types recorded in the Issue Register, but their nature differs: RFCs are proactive change proposals, Off-specifications are reactive quality failures.

Answer

A Request for Change always has a cost and time impact, while an Off-specification never does.

Answer

A Request for Change is recorded in the Issue Register, while an Off-specification is recorded in the Risk Register.

Answer

A Request for Change does not require authorization, while an Off-specification does.

Question 5

The Project Board delegates authority to approve changes that are within a certain budget to a Change Authority. The Project Manager receives a Request for Change that is within this budget but will affect a configuration item that is not under the Change Authority's scope. What should the Project Manager do?

Accepted Answer

Refer the change to the Project Board for decision. The Change Authority's delegated authority is limited to changes within a certain budget and within its scope. Since this change affects a configuration item not under the Change Authority's scope, it falls outside their authority. Question 7

Why does PRINCE2 separate the role of Project Manager from Project Assurance?

Accepted Answer

To allow the Project Manager to focus on day-to-day management while assurance is independent. PRINCE2 separates the role of Project Manager from Project Assurance to ensure that assurance activities are performed independently of day-to-day management. This allows the Project Manager to focus on delivering the project's products and managing the team, while Project Assurance provides an objective check that the project remains viable, compliant with standards, and aligned with business expectations. The independence prevents conflicts of interest and ensures that assurance is not compromised by the pressures of daily project work.

Answer

To ensure that the Project Board has direct control over the team

Question 9

The Project Manager has produced an End Stage Report for the current stage. According to PRINCE2, what is the next step?

Accepted Answer

Submit the report to the Project Board for a decision on whether to proceed. In PRINCE2, the End Stage Report is produced by the Project Manager to provide the Project Board with a summary of the stage's performance. The next step is to submit this report to the Project Board, which then decides whether to authorize the next stage, amend the project, or stop the project. Option D correctly reflects this governance checkpoint, as the Project Board holds the authority to approve continued investment.

Answer

Update the Business Case and close the project

Answer

Distribute the report to stakeholders and continue to the next stage

Answer

Seek approval from the Executive to continue

Answer

The Project Board approves the product immediately

Answer
