See what a network engineer can actually do before you hire them
Certifications and quizzes show what a candidate has studied. This test puts them on a live network that is already broken, with tickets and a timer, and shows you what they fixed, what they broke and how they went about it.
Quiz-style screening vs. this test
| Multiple-choice tests | Practical Network Engineer | |
|---|---|---|
| What is tested | Recall of facts | Fixing faults and carrying out changes on a running network |
| Same questions for everyone | Yes: answers leak | No: every candidate gets a generated network and faults |
| Collateral damage | Not measured | Everything that worked must still work (no-harm score) |
| How they work | Not visible | Look-before-change and verify-after-change scored; full session replay |
| Vendors | One | Cisco IOS and FortiGate in one network |
| Result | A number | Score, pass/fail, per-skill profile, time per ticket |
How it works
- Step 1
Create an assessment
Pick the level (Associate: Cisco branch; Professional: FortiGate edge with a Catalyst core) and the time limit.
- Step 2
Send each candidate a link
Paste names and emails; every candidate gets a single-use link.
- Step 3
Candidates take it in the browser
No installs. They see tickets, a topology and consoles; the timer cannot be paused.
- Step 4
Compare results
Ranked results, per-skill scores, the requirements each candidate met or missed, the replay where they agreed, and CSV export.
Pilot terms
Free while we calibrate pass marks with real results. Identity is not proctored, and documentation is allowed; run the test as a screening step, then discuss the replay in interview. Full methodology.
