Question 6

Which TWO roles are optional in the PRINCE2 project management team?

Accepted Answer

Project Support. In PRINCE2, the Project Support role is optional because it provides administrative and advisory services to the project management team, but the project can operate without a dedicated person in this role if the Project Manager or other team members absorb those tasks. Similarly, the Change Authority is optional because it is only needed when the project delegates authority for change decisions; if the Project Board retains full change control, no separate Change Authority is required.

Question 8

Which statement correctly describes the relationship between Project Assurance and quality review?

Accepted Answer

Project Assurance is a role; quality review is a technique. Project Assurance is a role within the PRINCE2 framework, responsible for ensuring that the project remains viable and compliant with its business case, while quality review is a technique used to assess the quality of products. The correct relationship is that Project Assurance is a role, and quality review is a technique, making option C correct. They are distinct concepts: one is a governance role, the other is a specific method for evaluating deliverables.

Answer

They are the same thing

Answer

Quality review is a part of Project Assurance

Answer

Project Assurance performs quality reviews

Question 9

In the PRINCE2 RACI model, what does 'Accountable' mean?

Accepted Answer

The person who is ultimately answerable for the correct completion of the deliverable. The accountable person is ultimately answerable for the correct and thorough completion of the deliverable or task, and has 'A' in the RACI chart.

Answer

The person who is consulted before decisions are made

Answer

The person who does the work

Answer

The person who is informed after decisions are made

Question 10

What is the difference between the Senior Responsible Owner (SRO/Executive) and a Project Sponsor?

Accepted Answer

The SRO is a PRINCE2 role; 'Project Sponsor' is not a PRINCE2 term. PRINCE2 defines the Senior Responsible Owner (SRO) as the single person accountable for the business case and overall project success, and it is a formal role within the PRINCE2 Project Board. 'Project Sponsor' is a generic term used in many organizations but is not a defined role in the PRINCE2 methodology. Therefore, the key difference is that the SRO is a specific PRINCE2 role, while 'Project Sponsor' is not part of the PRINCE2 terminology.

Answer

The SRO is a member of the Project Board; the Sponsor is not

Answer

They are the same role with different names

Answer

The Project Sponsor is more senior than the SRO

Question 11

According to PRINCE2, when should the Project Board meet?

Accepted Answer

At each stage boundary and when an Exception Report is raised. In PRINCE2, the Project Board is the decision-making body that provides overall direction and control. The board meets at each stage boundary to review progress, approve the next stage plan, and assess continued business justification. It also meets when an Exception Report is raised, which signals that a stage is forecast to exceed its tolerances, requiring the board to decide on corrective action.

Answer

Only at the start and end of the project

Answer

Monthly

Answer

Weekly

Question 12

Which TWO of the following are members of the Project Board?

Accepted Answer

Senior User. The Senior User (A) is a correct member of the Project Board because they represent the interests of those who will use the project's product, ensuring the product meets user requirements and provides value. The Senior Responsible Owner (E), also called the Executive, is the correct member who chairs the Project Board and is ultimately accountable for the project's success. Both roles are defined in PRINCE2 as essential for project governance and decision-making.

Answer

Project Assurance

Answer

Project Manager

Answer

Team Manager

Question 13

Which TWO of the following describe the role of Project Assurance?

Accepted Answer

Assures the Project Board that the project is on track. Option A is correct because Project Assurance exists to give the Project Board confidence that the project remains viable and on track against its business case, plans, and tolerances, providing an independent view of performance and compliance. Option D is correct because Project Assurance must be independent of the Project Manager — it cannot be performed by the Project Manager or those reporting to them — so that its assessments are objective and free from delivery bias. Option B is wrong because administrative support is the responsibility of Project Support, not Project Assurance. Option C is wrong because Highlight Reports are produced by the Project Manager and sent to the Project Board; Project Assurance reports through the Assurance role's own channels, not via Highlight Reports. Option E is wrong because managing the delivery of Work Packages is the Team Manager's responsibility, not Project Assurance.

Answer

Provides administrative support to the project team

Answer

Reports to the Project Board via Highlight Reports

Answer

Manages the delivery of Work Packages

Question 14

Which role provides independent assurance to the Project Board that the project is being managed correctly?

Accepted Answer

Project Assurance. Project Assurance provides independent assurance to the Project Board that the project is being managed correctly. This role is responsible for monitoring all aspects of the project's performance and ensuring that the project remains viable, and it reports directly to the Project Board.

Answer

Project Manager

Answer

Project Support

Answer

Team Manager

Question 15

In PRINCE2, why is the Project Manager not allowed to also perform Project Assurance?

Accepted Answer

To ensure independence and avoid conflicts of interest. In PRINCE2, Project Assurance is a separate role from the Project Manager to ensure objective oversight of the project's adherence to standards, plans, and business justification. The Project Manager is responsible for day-to-day management and delivery, so allowing them to also perform Project Assurance would create a conflict of interest, as they would be reviewing their own work. This independence is critical for the integrity of the assurance function, which must provide unbiased checks on the Project Manager's decisions and outputs.

Answer

Because Project Assurance is not a PRINCE2 role

Answer

To reduce the number of roles in the project

Answer

Because the Project Manager is too busy
