Principles
The Principles domain checks whether you can apply PRINCE2's seven principles to Practitioner-style scenarios: continued business justification, learn from experience, defined roles and responsibilities, manage by stages, manage by exception, focus on products, and tailor to suit the project environment. Questions present a situation and ask which principle drives a described action or decision.

What to know about Principles
Be able to read a scenario and name the single PRINCE2 principle it demonstrates, then justify that choice. The most important thing is knowing all seven principles and that they are mandatory and never tailored away, only applied appropriately.
Matching a described action to the correct PRINCE2 principle, such as continued business justification.
Recognising that the Business Case is reviewed and updated at each stage boundary.
Identifying focus on products when outputs need agreed quality criteria before work starts.
Applying learn from experience by using lessons from prior projects during initiation.
Watch out for
Common Principles exam traps
- ▸Confusing manage by stages with manage by exception, or assigning stage-boundary Business Case updates to the wrong principle.
- ▸Treating the seven principles as optional or tailorable, when they must always be applied.
- ▸Matching an action to a theme or process instead of the principle that actually underpins it.
