Troubleshooting: IPv6 hosts that cannot get out

PCs on two LANs should autoconfigure IPv6 and reach each other across two routers. Find the routing, prefix and next-hop faults and fix them.

About 25 minutes 4 devices 3 tasksAdvanced

Scenario

The IPv6 rollout is half working. PC1 and PC2 are set to autoconfigure (SLAAC), and the plan is 2001:db8:a::/64 on LAN A (R1), 2001:db8:b::/64 on LAN B (R2), and 2001:db8:ab::/64 between the routers (R1 ::1, R2 ::2). PC2 never gets an address, and PC1 cannot reach anything on LAN B. Use `show ipv6 interface brief`, `show ipv6 route`, `ipconfig` on the PCs and the running configs to find every fault.

Your tasks

  1. PC2 autoconfigures an address in 2001:db8:b::/64.
  2. R1's route to 2001:db8:b::/64 points at R2's real address.
  3. PC1 can ping PC2 over IPv6.

The lab checks the result, not the exact commands. For example, a ping task passes only when the ping really succeeds through the network you built.
