CIS-HR Practice Test 12 — 15 Questions

Question 1

Which ServiceNow feature identifies sensitive HR data fields for protection?

Accepted Answer

Data Classification. Data Classification is a ServiceNow feature that allows administrators to define classification levels (e.g., Public, Internal, Confidential, Restricted) and apply them to fields. It identifies sensitive HR data fields by tagging them with a classification, which can then be used to enforce security policies such as encryption or access controls. This directly addresses the need to identify sensitive data for protection.

Answer

HR Security Profiles

Answer

Answer

HR Criteria

Question 2

When configuring HR Service Delivery, which table should be used to store data about the organization's HR locations?

Accepted Answer

cmn_location. The cmn_location table is the correct table to store data about the organization's HR locations. In ServiceNow, cmn_location is the standard table for locations across all applications, including HR Service Delivery. It stores location details such as name, address, and time zone, and is referenced by HR profiles and cases.

Answer

sn_hr_core_profile

Answer

sn_hr_core_case

Answer

sn_hr_core_location

Question 3

Which THREE components are involved in the standard HR case lifecycle routing process?

Accepted Answer

HR Service. In the standard HR case lifecycle routing process, the HR Service (A) is the foundational component because it defines the HR catalog item and carries the routing configuration that determines how an HR case is handled. Assignment Rules (C) are involved because they evaluate conditions on the HR case (such as HR service, subject person, or other field values) to determine the correct assignment group. Assignment Groups (D) are the destination of routing, as the rules assign the HR case to the appropriate group of HR agents who will work it. The HR Template (B) is used to pre-populate case fields and tasks, not to route the case, and HR Criteria (E) is a condition-building element used within rules or services rather than a standalone routing component in the lifecycle.

Answer

HR Template

Answer

HR Criteria

Question 4

Which THREE of these are valid HR Service Delivery components?

Accepted Answer

HR Template. In ServiceNow HR Service Delivery, the core catalog-building components are HR services, HR templates, and HR tasks. Option B (HR Template) is correct because HR templates define reusable sets of HR tasks and associated fields that can be applied when creating HR cases or services, standardizing fulfillment. Option D (HR Service) is correct because an HR service is the published catalog item that employees request (for example, onboarding or leave requests) and is the central unit of HR Service Delivery. Option E (HR Task) is correct because HR tasks are the individual actionable work items assigned to fulfillers that make up the fulfillment process for an HR service or template. Option A (HR Incident) is not a valid HR Service Delivery component; HR cases, not HR incidents, are the record type used, and 'HR Incident' is not a standard component. Option C (HR Module) is not a valid component either; while HR Service Delivery is delivered as an application/plugin with modules in the navigation, 'HR Module' is not one of the defined HR Service Delivery components.

Answer

HR Incident

Answer

HR Module

Question 5

Which THREE of the following are valid 'Activity Types' in a Lifecycle Event?

Accepted Answer

Approval. In Lifecycle Events, the valid Activity Types are Approval, HR Task, and Signature. Option C (Approval) is correct because an Approval activity routes the event to a designated approver who must accept or reject it before the lifecycle event can proceed. Option D (HR Task) is correct because an HR Task activity assigns a specific action to an HR team member, such as updating employee data or completing a processing step. Option E (Signature) is correct because a Signature activity requires a document to be electronically signed by a specified participant as part of the lifecycle event. Options A (Workflow) and B (Checklist) are not valid Activity Types in a Lifecycle Event; while workflows and checklists exist as separate concepts, they are not selectable activity types within this configuration.

Answer

Workflow

Answer

Checklist

Question 6

Which feature allows you to bundle several activities together to be executed based on a specific trigger?

Accepted Answer

Activity Sets. Activity Sets are the ServiceNow HR Lifecycle Events construct that groups multiple Activity Definitions into a reusable bundle, which is then attached to a Lifecycle Event and executed when that event's trigger fires (e.g., onboarding, offboarding). They allow sequencing and conditional execution of related activities without rebuilding them for each event. This is exactly the 'bundle several activities together to be executed based on a specific trigger' behavior described.

Question 7

Which field in the Activity Definition determines if the task is an 'HR Task', 'Approval', or 'Signature'?

Accepted Answer

Activity Type. The 'Activity Type' field in an Activity Definition determines whether the activity generates an HR Task, Approval, or Signature. This field is the primary classifier that tells the HR Lifecycle Event engine what kind of record to create when the activity is triggered. The other fields control template, execution behavior, or the definition itself, but not the activity's fundamental type.

Answer

Task Template

Answer

Answer

Question 8

When a user submits a case, where is the HR Service name stored on the case?

Accepted Answer

HR Service field. The HR Service field on a case record is specifically designed to store the HR Service that the case is associated with. When a user submits a case through the HR Service Portal or via the HR Service catalog, the system automatically populates this field with the selected HR Service. This field is a reference to the HR Service table (sn_hr_core_service) and is used for routing, assignment, and reporting on HR services.

Question 9

To ensure that HR case templates are applied correctly, where should you associate an HR Template?

Accepted Answer

HR Service. HR Templates are associated with HR Services. When an HR case is created for a specific HR service, the template associated with that service is applied to pre-populate fields and tasks. This ensures consistency and efficiency in case creation.

Question 10

You are migrating from a legacy HR system and need to ensure data integrity. What is the first step in the data model planning phase?

Accepted Answer

Define data mapping and normalization rules. The first step in data model planning for a migration is to define data mapping and normalization rules. This involves analyzing the legacy data structures, identifying how fields correspond to the new system's tables, and establishing rules to standardize formats (e.g., date formats, name conventions). Without this foundational step, subsequent configuration like ACLs or portals would be built on inconsistent or incomplete data, leading to integrity issues.

Answer

Configure ACLs

Answer

Set up portal

Answer

Create HR services

Question 11

Which mechanism ensures that an HR Case can only be updated by the assigned HR agent?

Accepted Answer

HR ACLs. HR ACLs (Access Control Lists specific to HR Service Delivery) are the mechanism that restricts who can read, write, create, or delete HR Case records, including limiting updates to the assigned HR agent. They extend ServiceNow's standard ACL model with HR-specific conditions so that only the assigned agent (or authorized roles) can modify the case.

Question 12

Which TWO of the following are common benefits of Lifecycle Events?

Accepted Answer

Operational efficiency. Lifecycle Events are automated triggers tied to employee milestones (hire, transfer, termination) that drive downstream provisioning and deprovisioning tasks, so they deliver operational efficiency (A) by removing manual, repetitive coordination across HR, IT, and other systems. They also improve the employee experience (C) because new hires, movers, and leavers get timely, consistent access and communications rather than waiting on manual ticket handling. Option B is wrong because Lifecycle Events orchestrate business processes; they do not inherently increase system performance or speed. Option D is wrong because while automation reduces some manual effort, the recognized benefit is operational efficiency rather than a guaranteed reduction of overall employee workload. Option E is wrong because Lifecycle Events automate workflows but do not eliminate the need for HR agents, who still handle exceptions, judgment calls, and policy decisions.

Answer

Makes the system faster

Answer

Reduces employee workload

Answer

Eliminates the need for HR agents

Question 13

Which TWO of the following are true about Lifecycle Events?

Accepted Answer

Used for complex HR processes. Option A is correct because Lifecycle Events are designed to orchestrate complex, multi-departmental HR processes such as onboarding, offboarding, and leave transitions, going beyond simple request fulfillment. Option D is correct because Lifecycle Events are a feature of the HR Service Delivery (HRSD) application and require that application to be installed and configured. Option B is incorrect because Lifecycle Events can involve external parties and cross-departmental activities, not just internal employee requests. Option C is incorrect because Lifecycle Events complement rather than replace HR workflows, which are still used for many standard HR processes. Option E is incorrect because Lifecycle Events are inherently multi-step, coordinating a series of activities and tasks across the lifecycle.

Answer

Only for internal employee requests

Answer

Replaces all HR workflows

Answer

Are always single-step

Question 14

A new HR group requires 'Read' access to all HR cases. Where do you configure this?

Accepted Answer

Access Control List (ACL). Adding the group to the appropriate ACL on the HR Case table is the correct method.

Answer

HR Assignment Rules

Answer

Group Roles

Answer

Question 15

When configuring a new HR Service, you need to ensure the case is automatically assigned to a specific HR group. Where should you define this assignment logic?

Accepted Answer

HR Service definition. The HR Service definition includes the 'Assignment group' field where you specify which HR group the case should be assigned to. This is the native place to define default assignment logic for cases created from that HR service. Setting it here ensures every case opened via the HR service is routed to the correct group automatically.
