SNOW-CSA Reporting, SLA and Imports Practice Test 7 — 15 Questions

Question 1

A user wants to view a daily trend of incidents created over the past month. Which report type is most appropriate?

Accepted Answer

Line chart with date series on x-axis and count on y-axis. A line chart with date series on the x-axis and count on the y-axis is the most appropriate report type for viewing a daily trend of incidents over the past month. Line charts are specifically designed to display data points over time, making trends clearly visible. While a bar chart could also show daily counts, line charts are more effective for trend analysis. List reports show raw data in tabular form and do not visualize trends. Pie charts are unsuitable because they represent proportions at a single point in time.

Answer

Bar chart grouped by day

Answer

List report

Answer

Pie chart

Question 2

In an import set, where is the staged data stored before transformation?

Accepted Answer

Import set row table (sys_import_set_row). In ServiceNow, during the import set process, raw data from a data source is first loaded into the import set row table (sys_import_set_row). This table acts as a staging area. Only after transformation maps are applied does the data move to the target table (e.g., incident). Therefore, staged data before transformation resides in the import set row table, not the target table.

Answer

Target table (e.g., incident)

Answer

Transform map table

Answer

Data source table

Question 3

A manager wants to share a dashboard with the entire team without granting individual roles. What is the easiest way to achieve this?

Accepted Answer

Set the dashboard to 'Public'. Setting the dashboard to 'Public' is the easiest way because it makes the dashboard accessible to all users without granting any roles. This satisfies the requirement of sharing with the entire team without individual role assignments. Adding to a role would grant access only to those with that role, which is not the easiest method and contradicts the condition of not granting roles.

Answer

Create a report link and share via email

Answer

Publish the dashboard to a homepage

Answer

Add the dashboard to a role

Question 4

An import set transform map includes field maps with script actions. The import fails with 'Script execution error'. Where should the administrator look first?

Accepted Answer

System log. When a script action in a transform map field map throws an error, the system log (syslog) is the primary source for detailed JavaScript error messages, stack traces, and line numbers. Import set row errors only capture row-level failures like missing mandatory fields, not script execution details. The data source configuration and field map log do not store runtime script errors.

Answer

Import set row errors

Answer

Data source configuration

Answer

Transform map's field map log

Question 5

The SLA condition script above is used in an SLA definition. Standard incident states are: 1=New, 2=In Progress, 3=On Hold, 6=Resolved, 7=Closed. What is the effect of this condition?

Accepted Answer

The SLA starts when the incident state is 'Active'. The condition script evaluates the incident state and returns true when the state is not 1 (New), 2 (In Progress), 3 (On Hold), 6 (Resolved), or 7 (Closed). Since the standard states are numeric, any state value that does not match these numbers—such as a custom state labeled 'Active' with a value like 4 or 5—will cause the script to return true, starting the SLA. This is why option B is correct: the SLA starts when the incident state is 'Active', assuming 'Active' is a custom state not in the standard list.

Answer

The SLA does not start for any state

Answer

The SLA starts when the incident state is 'In Progress'

Answer

The SLA starts when the incident state is 'New'

Question 6

Which TWO conditions must be true for an SLA to start tracking on an incident? (Choose two.)

Accepted Answer

The SLA definition is set to Active. Option A is correct because an SLA definition must be in the Active state for the SLA engine to attach and begin tracking against an incident; inactive definitions are ignored. Option D is correct because the SLA definition's start condition (the defined condition/filter) must evaluate to true for the incident before the SLA task is created and tracking begins. Option B is not required, since assignment to a group is not a universal prerequisite for SLA start unless it is explicitly part of the definition's start condition. Option C is not required, as an incident need not be in the 'New' state; the start condition governs the qualifying state. Option E is not required, because a business schedule affects when the SLA clock runs, not whether tracking starts.

Answer

The incident is assigned to a group

Answer

The incident is in a state of 'New'

Answer

The SLA definition has a business schedule attached

Question 7

A user wants to create a report that shows the number of incidents by category for each month. Which report type best achieves this?

Accepted Answer

Bar chart with category on X-axis, count on Y-axis, and group by month.. A bar chart with category on the X-axis, count on the Y-axis, and grouping by month directly visualizes the number of incidents per category for each month. This report type uses a grouped bar chart, which allows the viewer to compare incident counts across categories while seeing the monthly breakdown side by side, fulfilling the user's requirement to show both dimensions clearly.

Answer

Bar chart with category on X-axis and count on Y-axis.

Answer

List report with category and month columns.

Answer

Pie chart by category.

Answer

Line chart with date on X-axis and count on Y-axis.

Question 8

A scheduled report is generated but not sending email notifications to recipients. What should the administrator check first?

Accepted Answer

Check the email notification configuration for the scheduled report.. The most likely cause of a scheduled report generating but not sending email notifications is a misconfiguration in the email notification settings for that specific schedule. The administrator should first verify that the 'Send email' checkbox is enabled, that valid recipients are listed, and that the notification is not being suppressed by a condition or an inactive email account. Checking the email notification configuration directly addresses the delivery mechanism, which is the immediate point of failure.

Answer

Check the report source definition.

Answer

Check the report filter to ensure data exists.

Answer

Check the report output format (e.g., PDF, CSV).

Question 9

An SLA is defined for incident resolution with a 4-hour breach timer. The SLA should not count time when the incident is in 'Awaiting Customer' status. The administrator has configured a pause condition on the SLA definition. However, when the state changes to 'Awaiting Customer', the SLA timer continues to run. The administrator wants to troubleshoot the issue. What should the administrator check first?

Accepted Answer

Verify the SLA pause condition script or condition.. The pause condition on the SLA definition is the primary mechanism that stops the breach timer when the incident enters a specific state, such as 'Awaiting Customer'. If the timer continues to run despite the state change, the most likely cause is that the pause condition script or condition is incorrectly configured, not evaluating to true, or missing entirely. The administrator should first verify this condition before investigating other potential issues.

Answer

Ensure the business rule that triggers SLA recalculation is active.

Answer

Check the SLA metric timeline.

Answer

Check the SLA schedule for the 'Pause' field.

Question 10

Refer to the exhibit. A ServiceNow administrator has created an SLA definition for critical incidents. Which TWO statements accurately describe the behavior of this SLA?

Accepted Answer

The SLA will start when an incident with priority 1 is created.. The SLA definition is configured to start when an incident is created with priority 1, as indicated by the 'Start condition' set to 'Priority is 1' and 'Start type' set to 'Created'. Option E is correct because the 'Stop condition' is set to 'State is 6 (Resolved)', which means the SLA timer will stop once the incident reaches the Resolved state.

Answer

The SLA will reset if the incident priority changes to a higher value.

Answer

The SLA will pause when the incident is placed on hold (state=3).

Answer

The SLA applies to incidents with priority 1 and priority 2.

Question 11

A ServiceNow administrator is responsible for importing data from an external HR system into the Employee table. The import set uses a transform map that creates new records and updates existing ones based on the employee number. Recently, the administrator noticed that some existing records are being incorrectly duplicated. The transform map is configured with a coalesce on the 'Employee Number' field. After reviewing the import log, the administrator finds that the import set rows are being processed, but the coalesce is not matching correctly. The HR system sends data with employee numbers that have leading zeros, but the ServiceNow employee number field is stored without leading zeros. For example, employee number '0123' in the source is '123' in ServiceNow. The administrator needs to fix this issue without modifying the HR system data. Which course of action should the administrator take?

Accepted Answer

Add a script in the transform map to remove leading zeros from the employee number before the coalesce runs.. The coalesce operation in a transform map runs before field mapping scripts, so a script placed in the transform map's 'Script' field (or a 'Before' script) can normalize the source value by removing leading zeros before the coalesce attempts to match. This ensures the incoming '0123' is converted to '123' and correctly matches the existing record in the Employee table.

Answer

Modify the import set table to store employee numbers as strings with leading zeros.

Answer

Change the coalesce field to a different unique field such as email address.

Answer

Use a before business rule on the Employee table to trim leading zeros on the employee number field.

Question 12

A ServiceNow administrator is configuring an SLA definition on the Incident table. The SLA should pause when the incident is in the 'Awaiting User' state and resume when the state changes. Which field in the SLA definition controls this behavior?

Accepted Answer

Pause condition. The Pause condition is specifically designed to temporarily halt the SLA timer when certain criteria are met. By setting it to match the 'Awaiting User' state, the SLA pauses while the incident is waiting on the user and resumes when the state changes. This ensures the SLA clock does not run during periods outside the assignee's control.

Answer

Stop condition

Answer

Start condition

Answer

Reset condition

Question 13

A ServiceNow administrator is building a report that shows incident counts grouped by assignment group, but the report must only include incidents that are currently open and were opened in the last 30 days. Which configuration should the administrator apply to the report to enforce these conditions?

Accepted Answer

Add a filter condition to the report that sets Active is true and Created on or after 30 days ago.. The report filter is the correct mechanism to restrict the data included in a report. By adding conditions for Active is true and Created on or after 30 days ago, the report will only count incidents that meet both criteria. This ensures the report remains accurate as new incidents are created and older ones are resolved, without requiring manual intervention or additional database objects.

Answer

Create a database view that joins Incident and Assignment Group tables with the required conditions, then base the report on that view.

Answer

Configure a scheduled report that runs daily and manually delete older incidents from the report output.

Answer

Set the report's 'Run as' user to a user who only has access to open incidents, and rely on ACLs to restrict the data.

Question 14

A service desk manager needs to know how many open incidents were created each day over the last 30 days. The report should display a line connecting one data point per day. Which report visualization should the administrator select?

Accepted Answer

Line chart with a Trend by field of Created on and no grouping. A line chart is the correct visualization when the requirement is to show a metric changing over time with connected data points. Setting Created on as the Trend by field aggregates incidents into daily buckets, and filtering to the last 30 days limits the range. Pivot tables, gauges, and heatmaps present aggregates differently and cannot produce a daily connected line.

Answer

Gauge with a target threshold of 30 incidents per day

Answer

Pivot table with State grouped by Assignment group

Answer

Heatmap with Created on on the vertical axis and Priority on the horizontal axis

Question 15

A ServiceNow administrator is importing a CSV file into the Incident table using an import set. The CSV contains a column 'caller_email' that should be used to look up the caller in the User [sys_user] table. The administrator creates a transform map with a field map for 'caller_id' that uses a coalesce on the 'email' field of the User table. However, during the transform, many rows fail with the error 'Coalesce field not found on target table'. What is the most likely cause?

Accepted Answer

The 'email' field does not exist on the User [sys_user] table or the field name is misspelled in the coalesce configuration.. The error indicates that the coalesce field specified in the transform map does not exist on the target table. This typically happens when the field name is misspelled or the field is not present. The administrator should verify the exact field name on the User [sys_user] table, such as 'email', and ensure it is correctly entered in the coalesce configuration of the transform map.

Answer

The transform map is not set to 'coalesce' mode and therefore cannot find the field.

Answer

The 'email' field on the User table is not marked as a coalesce field in the transform map.

Answer

The import set table does not have a column named 'caller_email'.
