SNOW-CSA Practice Test 17 — 15 Questions

Question 1

Which TWO of the following are true regarding catalog item variables? (Choose two.)

Accepted Answer

Variables can be configured as 'Read only' after submission.. Option C is correct because catalog item variables support a 'Read only' attribute that can be enforced after the item is submitted, preventing users from editing the value once the request is placed. Option E is correct because a variable's Default Value can be set dynamically using a script (e.g., a client script or dynamic default value), allowing values to be computed at form load rather than hard-coded. Option A is incorrect because variables can be referenced in workflows and other server-side logic via the variable name or the question/answer records. Option B is incorrect because display order is controlled by the Order field, not creation sequence. Option D is incorrect because variable sets can share values and variables across sets through the same record context, so they are not strictly independent.

Answer

Variables defined on a catalog item cannot be referenced in workflows.

Answer

Variables are always displayed in the order they were created.

Answer

Variables in a variable set are independent and cannot share values across sets.

Question 2

Which TWO scenarios would require a Catalog UI Policy instead of a Catalog Client Script?

Accepted Answer

Hiding a variable based on another variable's value. A Catalog UI Policy is the correct choice for hiding a variable based on another variable's value (B) because UI Policies are declarative, server-side-evaluated rules that can automatically set a variable's visibility (visible=false) when a condition on another variable is met, without writing client-side JavaScript. It is also correct for making a variable mandatory only when a condition is met (E), since UI Policies natively support the 'Mandatory' action driven by a condition, which is exactly the conditional-requirement use case they are designed for. In contrast, A (displaying a warning message when a variable is invalid) typically requires a Catalog Client Script with an onChange or onSubmit script using g_form.showFieldMsg or alert, because UI Policies cannot display custom warning messages. C (setting a variable's value from a record producer mapping) is handled by the record producer's variable mapping/script configuration, not a UI Policy. D (making a variable read-only after the catalog item is submitted) is a post-submission behavior on the task/record, not a catalog form UI behavior, so it falls outside Catalog UI Policy scope.

Answer

Displaying a warning message when a variable is invalid

Answer

Setting a variable's value from a record producer mapping

Answer

Making a variable read-only after the catalog item is submitted

Question 3

A manager wants a report that shows the number of incidents opened each day for the past 30 days, broken down by category. They want to see the data as a line chart with multiple lines (one per category). What report type and options should the admin select?

Accepted Answer

Line chart with 'Group by' set to 'Category' and 'Stacked' set to 'No'.. A line chart with 'Group by' set to 'Category' and 'Stacked' set to 'No' produces a multi-line chart where each line represents a distinct category, showing the number of incidents opened each day over the past 30 days. This directly meets the manager's requirement for a line chart with multiple lines, one per category, without stacking the values.

Answer

Pie chart with a filter for the last 30 days and a breakdown by category.

Answer

List report with a 'Count' aggregation grouped by 'Opened' and 'Category'.

Answer

Bar chart with 'Group by' set to 'Category' and 'Stacked' set to 'Yes'.

Question 4

A large enterprise has extensively customized the Incident table with many UI Policies and Client Scripts. After a recent upgrade, users report that the incident form takes significantly longer to load, especially on records with many fields. The administrator investigates and discovers that multiple UI Policies share the same condition but are defined separately, causing the condition to be evaluated multiple times. Additionally, there are several client scripts that also evaluate the same conditions. The administrator wants to reduce page load time without altering the functionality. The instance is running on a mid-sized deployment with no budget for hardware scaling in the near term. Which course of action will best address the performance issue?

Accepted Answer

Combine UI Policies with identical conditions into a single UI Policy with multiple actions.. Combining UI Policies with identical conditions into a single UI Policy reduces redundant condition evaluations, directly improving performance. Increasing timeouts only masks the problem, disabling client-side scripting removes functionality, and converting to client scripts may still evaluate conditions inefficiently.

Answer

Disable all client-side scripting and rely solely on server-side validation.

Answer

Increase the system's form load timeout setting to prevent errors.

Answer

Convert all UI Policies to Client Scripts to move processing to the client.

Question 5

A Service Catalog item has a variable that asks for the user's manager's email. The variable type is 'Email'. When the user submits the item, the manager should receive a notification. How should the variable be configured to ensure the email is valid?

Accepted Answer

Use the 'Email' variable type; it includes validation.. The 'Email' variable type in Service Catalog automatically validates that the entered value conforms to a standard email format (e.g., user@domain.com). This built-in validation ensures the manager's email is syntactically correct before the notification is triggered, without requiring additional scripting or regex. Option D is correct because it leverages this native validation, which is the simplest and most reliable method.

Answer

Set the variable as 'Read only' and rely on data from sys_user table.

Answer

Add a regular expression in the variable's 'Regex' field.

Answer

Use a 'String' variable and add a client script to check format.

Question 6

Refer to the exhibit. A flow is configured as shown. When will this flow trigger?

Accepted Answer

On insert or update when stage is submitted or approved.. The flow trigger configuration shown in the exhibit specifies both 'Insert' and 'Update' as trigger conditions, and the stage condition is set to 'Stage is submitted' OR 'Stage is approved'. This means the flow will execute when a record is inserted with stage 'submitted' or when an existing record is updated to either 'submitted' or 'approved' stage.

Answer

On every update of a request item regardless of stage.

Answer

Only on update when stage changes to approved.

Answer

Only on insert with stage submitted.

Question 7

An administrator needs to identify which CI(s) are affected by a recent network outage. Which table should be queried to find the relationship between CIs and incidents?

Accepted Answer

task_ci. The task_ci table stores the direct relationship between tasks (including incidents) and configuration items (CIs). When an administrator needs to identify which CIs are affected by a specific incident, querying task_ci with the incident's sys_id will return the associated CIs. This table is the standard ServiceNow junction table for linking any task record (such as an incident) to CIs.

Answer

cmdb_ci

Answer

sys_ci_relation

Answer

cmdb_rel_ci

Question 8

An administrator notices that a reference field on the cmdb_ci table, 'vendor', points to the 'core_company' table. However, some users report that they cannot select certain companies in the reference field. What is the most likely cause?

Accepted Answer

The 'vendor' field has a reference qualifier that filters companies. Reference qualifiers are used to filter the records displayed in a reference field. If the 'vendor' field has a reference qualifier condition (e.g., 'active=true' or 'vendor_type=hardware'), only companies meeting that condition will appear in the dropdown, preventing users from selecting certain companies. This is the most likely cause when users cannot see specific records in a reference field.

Answer

The 'display field' property is incorrectly configured

Answer

The 'vendor' field is marked as mandatory

Answer

The database view permission is set to 'none' for some users

Question 9

A ServiceNow administrator notices that some users are able to see and request services in the service portal that they should not have access to. Which of the following should the administrator check first?

Accepted Answer

The catalog item's 'Available For' condition.. The catalog item's 'Available For' condition directly controls which users can see and request that specific item in the service portal. Since the issue is that users are seeing services they should not have access to, the most immediate and granular check is the catalog item's availability condition, not broader category or portal settings.

Answer

The category's 'Available For' condition.

Answer

The user's role assignments.

Answer

The portal's 'Available For' condition.

Question 10

A company wants to collect the same set of user details (name, email, department) in multiple catalog items. What is the best practice to achieve this?

Accepted Answer

Create a variable set with the required variables and add it to each catalog item.. Variable sets in ServiceNow allow you to define a reusable group of variables (e.g., name, email, department) that can be added to multiple catalog items. This ensures consistency, reduces duplication, and simplifies maintenance because any update to the variable set automatically propagates to all items that use it. Cloning items (Option A) would create separate copies of the variables, leading to maintenance overhead and potential drift.

Answer

Create a single catalog item with all variables and clone it for each item.

Answer

Use UI policies to display the same fields on multiple items.

Answer

Configure the variables on the 'sc_cat_item' table and reference them.

Question 11

A knowledge base article with 'Work in Progress' state is not appearing in the service portal search results. What is the most likely reason?

Accepted Answer

The article is not published.. In ServiceNow, knowledge base articles must have a state of 'Published' to be visible in service portal search results. Articles in 'Work in Progress' or 'Draft' states are intentionally excluded from public-facing searches because they are not yet finalized or approved for end-user consumption. This ensures that only authoritative, reviewed content is accessible to users.

Answer

The article has no attachments.

Answer

The article category is not set.

Answer

The article is not assigned to a knowledge base.

Question 12

A catalog item uses a workflow with a 'Run Script' activity that contains a script to update a custom table. The script works correctly when executed manually in the Scripts Background, but fails when invoked by the workflow. What is the most likely reason?

Accepted Answer

The workflow runs with a different security context, causing permission issues. The most likely reason is that the workflow runs under the security context of the workflow engine (typically the 'workflow' user or the system user), not the current user's context. When the script is executed manually in Scripts Background, it runs with the full privileges of the admin user, which may include write access to the custom table. In contrast, the workflow's Run Script activity may lack the necessary ACL permissions (e.g., write or create) on the custom table, causing the GlideRecord update to fail silently or throw an error.

Answer

The workflow script references a variable that is undefined in that context

Answer

The script uses incorrect GlideRecord API methods

Answer

The workflow is in draft mode

Question 13

An administrator wants to send an email notification to the user's manager when a specific catalog item is requested. Which approach is most efficient?

Accepted Answer

Create a notification on the Requested Item table with a condition on the catalog item.. Creating a notification on the Requested Item [sc_req_item] table with a condition on the catalog item is the most efficient approach. It leverages the platform's native event-based notification system, which triggers directly on the table where the record is created, without requiring additional configuration like approval rules or flows. This method minimizes overhead and ensures the notification fires only when the specific catalog item is requested.

Answer

Configure an approval rule that sends email.

Answer

Add a notification to the catalog item directly.

Answer

Use a Flow to send email after the record is created.

Question 14

Refer to the exhibit. An administrator created a catalog item using a record producer. When a user submits the request, the record producer fails to create the requested item. The log shows a missing mandatory field error. What is the most likely cause?

Accepted Answer

A mandatory field in the target table is not mapped by the record producer.. The error message 'missing mandatory field' directly indicates that a field in the target table, which is required (mandatory), has not been mapped by the record producer. In ServiceNow, when a record producer creates a record, it must map variables or fields to all mandatory fields in the target table; if any mandatory field is left unmapped, the system will fail to insert the record and log this specific error.

Answer

The record producer is not mapped to the correct table.

Answer

The 'model' variable is not mapped to a field in the target table.

Answer

The record producer is inactive.

Question 15

A company wants to allow managers to approve requests on behalf of their team members using the mobile app. What is the best way to enable this self-service capability?

Accepted Answer

Configure delegation in user preferences so managers can be set as delegates. ServiceNow's delegation feature allows users to designate delegates (e.g., managers) to approve requests on their behalf directly from the mobile app. This is configured in user preferences under 'Delegates', enabling a self-service capability without granting elevated roles or modifying app settings.

Answer

Enable the 'Approval Delegation' feature in the mobile app settings

Answer

Grant the 'Impersonate' role to managers

Answer

Assign the 'Delegate' role to all users and managers
