SNOW-CSA Practice Test 13 — 15 Questions

Question 1

Drag and drop the steps to create a new user in ServiceNow into the correct order.

Accepted Answer

Navigate to User Administration > Users, click New, enter mandatory fields (User ID, Email), then click Submit.. Creating a new user in ServiceNow requires navigating to the Users module, clicking New to open a blank record, entering mandatory fields like User ID and Email, and finally submitting the form. Skipping or reordering steps leads to errors or missing fields.

Answer

Navigate to User Administration > Users, enter mandatory fields, click New, then click Submit.

Answer

Navigate to User Administration > Users, click New, click Submit, then enter mandatory fields.

Answer

Click New, navigate to User Administration > Users, enter mandatory fields, then click Submit.

Question 2

Drag and drop the steps to configure an inbound email action in ServiceNow into the correct order.

Accepted Answer

1. Create a new inbound email action record. 2. Define the conditions (table, type, condition script). 3. Write the action script. 4. Save and activate the inbound action.. The correct sequence for configuring an inbound email action in ServiceNow is to first create the action record, then define the conditions (such as the table and condition script), then write the action script that processes incoming emails, and finally save and activate the action. This order ensures that all necessary fields are properly set and the action works as intended.

Answer

1. Write the action script. 2. Create a new inbound email action record. 3. Define the conditions. 4. Save and activate.

Answer

Question 3

Your organization uses multiple data sources to populate the CMDB, including ServiceNow Discovery, manual imports, and integrations with an external asset management system. Recently, you have noticed that some CIs appear to be duplicated despite having identification rules configured. Investigation reveals that the identification rules are not correctly matching CIs from the external system. What should you do to resolve the duplication without losing existing relationships?

Accepted Answer

Modify the identification rule to include a unique identifier from the external system.. The duplication occurs because the identification rule does not include a unique identifier from the external system, so CIs from that source are not matched to existing records. Adding the external system's unique identifier to the identification rule allows ServiceNow to correctly correlate incoming CIs with existing ones, preventing duplicates while preserving relationships. This is the standard remediation for identification-rule mismatches.

Answer

Delete all CIs from the external system and re-import.

Answer

Manually merge all duplicate CIs using the UI.

Answer

Disable the external integration to prevent further duplicates.

Question 4

A manager wants to share a dashboard with the entire team without granting individual roles. What is the easiest way to achieve this?

Accepted Answer

Set the dashboard to 'Public'. Setting the dashboard to 'Public' is the easiest way because it makes the dashboard accessible to all users without granting any roles. This satisfies the requirement of sharing with the entire team without individual role assignments. Adding to a role would grant access only to those with that role, which is not the easiest method and contradicts the condition of not granting roles.

Answer

Create a report link and share via email

Answer

Publish the dashboard to a homepage

Answer

Add the dashboard to a role

Question 5

An administrator wants to create a new module under the 'User Administration' application menu. Which module type should be used to display a list of users?

Accepted Answer

List. A List module type is specifically designed to display a table of records from a specified table, such as the sys_user table for users. When creating a module under the 'User Administration' application menu, selecting List allows the administrator to configure the module to show a list view of user records, including columns, filters, and sorting options.

Answer

Form

Answer

URL

Answer

Report

Question 6

An order guide contains multiple catalog items. When the order guide is submitted, what is created?

Accepted Answer

One request with multiple requested items. When an order guide is submitted in ServiceNow, it creates a single request (sc_request) containing multiple requested items (sc_req_item), one for each catalog item in the guide. This is because the order guide acts as a container that groups multiple catalog items into one submission, and the system automatically generates a parent request with child requested items to track fulfillment individually.

Answer

One request with one requested item that contains all items

Answer

Multiple requests, one for each item

Answer

A single cart item

Question 7

Which TWO best practices should be followed when designing forms in ServiceNow? (Choose two.)

Accepted Answer

Use a consistent order of fields across similar tables. Option A is correct because using a consistent order of fields across similar tables improves usability and reduces user error, as users can rely on muscle memory and predictable layouts when moving between related records. Option B is correct because grouping related fields into sections with clear headings organizes the form logically, making it easier for users to find and understand information, which is a documented ServiceNow form design best practice. Option C is incorrect because hiding mandatory fields via UI policies can prevent users from completing required data and cause validation errors, so mandatory fields should remain visible. Option D is incorrect because many-to-many fields are not a standard field type for replacing reference fields; reference fields are the proper way to define relationships, and m2m relationships are implemented via related lists or junction tables. Option E is incorrect because cramming many fields onto one form increases clutter and cognitive load, whereas best practice favors simplifying forms and using related lists or multiple views for additional data.

Answer

Hide mandatory fields using UI policies to reduce clutter

Answer

Use many-to-many fields instead of reference fields for better relationships

Answer

Include as many fields as possible on one form to minimize navigation

Question 8

Which module is used to create and manage record producers?

Accepted Answer

Service Catalog > Record Producers. Record producers are a type of catalog item that allows users to submit records directly from the Service Catalog. They are created and managed under Service Catalog > Record Producers, where you define the target table, form fields, and mapping logic to generate a new record in the platform upon submission.

Answer

Process Automation > Record Producers

Answer

Service Portal > Record Producers

Answer

System Definition > Record Producers

Question 9

A company needs to add a reference field on the Incident form that points to the Service Catalog item requested. However, the reference field must only allow selection of Catalog Items that are in the 'Software' category. Which configuration should be used?

Accepted Answer

Add a reference qualifier to the field with condition 'Category = Software'. A reference qualifier is the standard mechanism in ServiceNow to filter the records that appear in a reference field's lookup. By adding a condition such as 'Category = Software' to the reference qualifier on the field pointing to the Service Catalog item table (sc_cat_item), only catalog items in the 'Software' category will be selectable, meeting the requirement precisely.

Answer

Create a UI policy to show/hide the field

Answer

Set a default value on the reference field

Answer

Use an Access Control Rule to limit visibility

Question 10

A form has a reference field to the 'User' table. The administrator wants to ensure that when a user is selected, the user's email is automatically populated in another field. Which mechanism should be used?

Accepted Answer

UI Policy with an 'onChange' condition. A UI Policy with an 'onChange' condition is the correct mechanism because it triggers client-side when the reference field changes, allowing the system to populate the email field based on the selected user. In ServiceNow, UI Policies can set field values dynamically when a field changes, using dot-walking to retrieve related field values like email from the User table. This approach works reactively on user interaction, unlike dictionary defaults which only apply on record creation.

Answer

Dictionary entry with a default value calculated from the reference field

Answer

Access Control Rule on the email field

Answer

Data lookup field configuration

Question 11

A company needs to import user records from a CSV file into the User [sys_user] table. The file contains a 'department' column that should map to the 'department' field in ServiceNow. However, the department values in the CSV are full names (e.g., 'Human Resources'), but the department field in ServiceNow uses a reference to the Department [cmn_department] table. What is the best practice for handling this import?

Accepted Answer

Create a transform map that maps the source field to the target field, and use a field mapping script to convert the department name to the correct sys_id.. Import Set Rows are processed through transform maps, which allow field mapping scripts to convert source values (like 'Human Resources') into the corresponding sys_id in the Department [cmn_department] table. This is the standard, supported approach for handling reference field lookups during imports, ensuring data integrity without manual intervention or post-insert processing.

Answer

Use a before business rule on the User table to convert the department name after the record is inserted.

Answer

Use the Import Set Row API to programmatically map the values during import.

Answer

Manually edit the CSV file to replace department names with the corresponding sys_id values.

Question 12

An administrator wants to create a homepage that displays a filtered list of high-priority incidents assigned to the current user. Which widget should be used?

Accepted Answer

Dashboard widget with a list report. The Dashboard widget with a list report is correct because it allows an administrator to embed a filtered list report directly on a homepage. By configuring the report to filter for 'high-priority incidents' and setting the condition 'Assigned to is current user', the widget dynamically displays only the relevant records for the logged-in user, meeting the requirement without custom scripting.

Answer

Content Selector widget

Answer

HTML widget with embedded Jelly script

Answer

Metric tag widget

Question 13

An HR department wants employees to submit a tuition reimbursement request through the Service Catalog. The request must collect the employee's name, the course name, the cost, and a receipt attachment. Which combination of catalog item components should the administrator configure?

Accepted Answer

A Catalog Item with variables for name, course, and cost, plus an Attachment variable for the receipt.. A Catalog Item is the correct building block for self-service requests. Variables capture the employee name, course, and cost, while the Attachment variable type lets the user upload the receipt. This keeps the request within the standard catalog workflow so it can be tracked and approved.

Answer

A UI Action on the HR case table that opens a modal form for data entry.

Answer

A Record Producer that creates a task on the HR table.

Answer

A Scheduled Job that imports reimbursement requests from an external spreadsheet.

Question 14

In the CMDB, what is the purpose of the 'cmdb_ci' table?

Accepted Answer

It is the base table for all hardware and software CI classes.. The 'cmdb_ci' table is the base (or parent) table for all hardware and software Configuration Item (CI) classes in the ServiceNow CMDB. It defines common fields such as name, serial number, and operational status, which are inherited by all child CI tables (e.g., cmdb_ci_server, cmdb_ci_software_product). This design follows a single-table inheritance model, ensuring consistency across all CI types.

Answer

It stores the discovery schedule and probes.

Answer

It contains the CMDB health rules.

Answer

It stores relationships between configuration items.

Question 15

An administrator is investigating a performance issue where a script that queries the task table with a JOIN to the cmdb_ci table is slow. Which two actions can improve query performance? (Select two.)

Accepted Answer

Add an index on the task table's cmdb_ci field.. Adding an index on the `cmdb_ci` field of the `task` table allows the database to quickly locate rows that satisfy the JOIN without scanning the entire table. Creating a database view that combines the two tables can also improve performance by pushing the join logic into the database view, allowing the database optimizer to handle the join more efficiently and consistently. Increasing the connection pool, replacing the JOIN with `query()`, or using a GlideAggregate query does not directly address the slow JOIN; they change concurrency, remove the join semantics, or are only applicable for aggregate data.

Answer

Increase the database connection pool size.

Answer

Replace the JOIN with a glide query using query().

Answer

Use a glide aggregate query to reduce data returned.
