iBGP over loopbacks with next-hop-self

Peer two routers in the same AS over their loopbacks, carried by OSPF, and fix the unreachable next hop that iBGP leaves behind with next-hop-self.

About 35 minutes 5 devices 3 tasksAdvanced

Scenario

Your company is AS 65002. Edge router R2 already peers by eBGP with the ISP (R1, AS 65001) and learns the ISP's network 203.0.113.0/24. Core router R3 must learn it too, by iBGP between loopbacks (R2 2.2.2.2, R3 3.3.3.3); OSPF already carries the loopbacks and the R2–R3 link, but not the ISP link. Advertise R3's LAN 192.168.3.0/24 to the ISP as well, and make sure PC3 reaches the ISP server 203.0.113.10.

Your tasks

  1. R2 and R3 run iBGP in AS 65002 between their loopbacks.
  2. R3 installs a BGP route to 203.0.113.0/24.
  3. The ISP learns 192.168.3.0/24 and PC3 can reach the server 203.0.113.10.

The lab checks the result, not the exact commands. For example, a ping task passes only when the ping really succeeds through the network you built.
