SERVICENOW-CIS-DISCOVERY Practice Test 4 — 10 Questions

Question 1

What is the primary function of the 'CI Class Manager'?

Accepted Answer

To manage class hierarchy, identification, and reconciliation rules.. CI Class Manager is the centralized UI for managing class hierarchy, identification rules, and reconciliation rules.

Answer

To monitor network traffic.

Answer

To create new Discovery users.

Answer

To update Discovery patterns.

Question 2

Which UI tool is used to visualize the pattern execution flow?

Accepted Answer

Pattern Designer. The Pattern Designer includes a graphical interface that displays the steps and flow of the pattern.

Answer

Discovery Dashboard

Answer

Service Mapping view

Answer

CI Class Manager

Question 3

You are migrating from legacy horizontal discovery to Service Mapping. How should you handle the transition of existing CMDB CI relationships?

Accepted Answer

Ensure existing CIs have stable identification attributes so Service Mapping can build on them.. Service Mapping relies on existing identification rules; existing relationships should be verified for consistency.

Answer

Create a new CMDB class for all Service Mapping CIs.

Answer

Force all CIs to be re-discovered by the same MID server.

Answer

Delete all existing relationships before starting.

Question 4

You need to ensure that a specific MID Server only performs WMI discovery and ignores SSH tasks. How do you configure this?

Accepted Answer

Assign only the 'WMI' capability in the 'Capabilities' related list. Capabilities are used to restrict the types of tasks a MID Server will accept. Removing the SSH capability ensures the MID Server ignores those jobs.

Answer

Create an Access Control List (ACL) on the ECC Queue

Answer

Set the 'Discovery Source' field to 'WMI'

Answer

Modify the 'Supported Protocols' field on the MID Server record

Question 5

When a pattern step fails, how can you determine which step caused the failure?

Accepted Answer

Review the Discovery Status record log.. The Discovery status log shows the step that failed in the execution flow.

Answer

Re-run the Discovery as admin.

Answer

Check the MID Server service.

Answer

Look at the CMDB class manager.

Question 6

What is the primary function of the 'MID Server' application in ServiceNow?

Accepted Answer

To act as a gateway for communication between the instance and the local network. The MID Server acts as a bridge between the instance and the internal network for data collection.

Answer

To handle user authentication

Answer

To replace the need for firewalls

Answer

To store all network data

Question 7

If a MID Server is configured to use an encrypted credential but it is failing, what is the most likely cause?

Accepted Answer

The credential alias is not associated with the MID Server or its policy. Encrypted credentials in ServiceNow Discovery rely on credential aliases that must be explicitly associated with the MID Server or its MID Server policy. If the alias is not linked, the MID Server cannot decrypt or use the credential, causing authentication failures. This is the most common configuration oversight when encrypted credentials fail.

Answer

The MID Server is running on Windows

Answer

The MID Server is not in a cluster

Answer

The MID Server needs to be restarted

Question 8

A MID Server reports 'Up' but is not processing any jobs. What is the most likely cause?

Accepted Answer

The MID Server is paused. If a MID Server is paused, it will remain up but will not poll for work from the ECC Queue.

Answer

The MID Server is in a cluster

Answer

The MID Server is not validated

Answer

The MID Server is missing the 'Discovery' capability

Question 9

What is the purpose of the 'MID Server Properties' module?

Accepted Answer

To manage global configuration properties for all MID Servers. This module allows you to define system-wide properties that influence all MID Servers.

Answer

To define individual server IP addresses

Answer

To store user passwords

Answer

To list all discovery jobs

Question 10

Which of the following best describes how the CMDB Health Dashboard defines 'Duplicate' CIs?

Accepted Answer

Multiple CIs that share the same identification criteria.. Duplicates are identified based on multiple CIs matching the same criteria defined in the Identification Rules.

Answer

CIs with the same name.

Answer

CIs discovered at the same time.

Answer

CIs that share the same IP address.
