C_ARSUM Exam Simulation — 100 Questions

Question 1

Refer to the exhibit. A supplier attempts to complete their registration, but the workflow stalls. Based on the JSON policy snippet, why is the process not completing automatically?

Accepted Answer

The Auto_Approve flag is set to false. The JSON policy clearly defines 'Auto_Approve' as 'false' and mandates a 'Manager_Approval_Required' workflow. This configuration explicitly disables automated completion, requiring human intervention. In Ariba, this is a standard configuration pattern to enforce internal oversight and risk control during the registration phase, ensuring that only verified suppliers with approved credentials enter the procurement ecosystem, thus preventing unauthorized or high-risk vendors from being added to the system.

Answer

The registration policy is disabled

Answer

The system is missing a required field

Answer

The workflow is circular and has timed out

Question 2

Which of the following best describes the 'Preferred Supplier' status in SAP Ariba?

Accepted Answer

A designation for high-performing, approved vendors. Preferred Supplier status is a strategic designation used to guide internal users toward vendors that have been vetted for quality, performance, or strategic fit. By highlighting these suppliers in search results, the organization drives spend toward its most reliable partners, maximizing the value of its procurement contracts. This status is highly visible during the procurement process, helping to ensure that employees make purchasing decisions that align with corporate objectives and sustainability goals.

Answer

A status that grants the supplier exclusive rights

Answer

A mandatory requirement for all new suppliers

Answer

A temporary status that resets every fiscal year

Question 3

What is the primary benefit of using a 'Preferred' supplier status in SAP Ariba?

Accepted Answer

To prioritize these suppliers during the procurement process.. The 'Preferred' supplier status signals to the entire organization which vendors are strategically chosen for specific commodities or regions. This status is highly visible during the requisitioning process, encouraging users to select preferred suppliers over non-preferred ones. This drives compliance with negotiated contracts, achieves better pricing, and ensures that the company leverages its consolidated spend volume to gain favorable terms, while also simplifying the purchasing experience for employees.

Answer

To increase the number of suppliers in the database.

Answer

To hide all other suppliers from the user interface.

To automatically grant these suppliers access to all internal systems.

Question 4

Why should a project manager use the 'Supplier Request' project instead of a direct 'Qualification' project for a new supplier?

Accepted Answer

To collect preliminary data for vetting before qualification.. The Supplier Request project serves as a gatekeeper, collecting essential preliminary information to determine if a supplier should even be considered for business. By decoupling the request from the qualification process, you reduce administrative burden and prevent the cluttering of the qualification system with non-viable suppliers. This staged approach is vital for maintaining a high-quality supplier database that complies with organizational procurement policies and internal risk management standards.

Answer

To bypass internal approval workflows.

Answer

To automatically sync the supplier to the ERP system.

Answer

To skip commodity code assignment.

Question 5

What is the primary purpose of the 'Supplier Performance Management' (SPM) project type?

Accepted Answer

To evaluate and score supplier performance using surveys and KPIs.. Supplier Performance Management is designed to measure, track, and analyze how suppliers are performing against key performance indicators (KPIs). By formalizing the evaluation process through surveys and scorecards, organizations can drive continuous improvement in their supply base. This data is critical for strategic decision-making, such as identifying top-performing vendors for future contracts or flagging those that need corrective action plans to meet quality or service level agreements.

Answer

To automate the negotiation process of long-term sourcing contracts.

Answer

To manage the lifecycle of supplier registration and qualification surveys.

Answer

To process payments and reconcile invoices for approved suppliers.

Question 6

If a procurement manager wants to review supplier performance over the past two years, which tool should they prioritize?

Accepted Answer

Supplier Performance Reporting. Reporting and analytics provide the historical visibility required for long-term performance assessment. By leveraging pre-built or custom reports, managers can analyze historical SPM data, identifying trends in quality, delivery, and service. This analytical capability is critical for strategic decision-making, allowing the organization to determine whether to continue, expand, or terminate a supplier relationship based on documented long-term performance trends rather than just current snapshots of data.

Answer

Supplier Registration Project

Answer

A live audit of the supplier's website.

Answer

Reviewing individual purchase orders.

Question 7

A procurement manager wants to ensure that suppliers must update their registration data every 12 months. Which feature in SAP Ariba Supplier Management handles this requirement?

Accepted Answer

Registration project template expiration settings. The registration renewal process is governed by the registration project template's expiration settings. By configuring the 'Valid Until' date and triggering an expiration notification, SAP Ariba automatically prompts suppliers to update their profile data. This ensures compliance with corporate data freshness policies and keeps supplier master data accurate for downstream procurement activities, preventing transactions with stagnant or potentially inactive vendor entities.

Question 8

What is the benefit of using modular questionnaires in SAP Ariba?

Accepted Answer

They allow for targeted data collection on specific topics.. Modular questionnaires provide the flexibility to gather data on specific, evolving business needs without requiring a full registration update. This targeted approach minimizes the burden on suppliers while allowing the procurement organization to quickly collect data on new compliance requirements, diversity goals, or specific regional regulations. This agility is essential in a dynamic business environment where requirements frequently change, allowing organizations to maintain compliance and data accuracy without restarting the entire onboarding process.

Answer

They replace the need for an initial supplier registration.

Answer

They are mandatory for all suppliers to be active.

Answer

They store the supplier's historical transactional history.

Question 9

Which object serves as the primary source of truth for supplier information across SAP Ariba modules?

Accepted Answer

The Supplier Profile. The Supplier Profile is the central repository for all supplier data, including registration information, qualifications, and performance metrics. By maintaining a single source of truth, SAP Ariba ensures data consistency across the entire source-to-pay process. This centralization is vital for data integrity, as it prevents discrepancies between modules and provides a unified view for procurement professionals to make informed decisions regarding vendor selection and ongoing supplier management.

By creating a separate workspace for every unique location and service combination.

Answer

By disabling the internal categorization features to allow for unstructured search.

Question 11

What is the primary function of a 'Preferred' status in SAP Ariba Supplier Management?

Accepted Answer

To identify a vendor as a recommended choice for specific categories. The 'Preferred' status is an optional, high-level designation used to signal that a supplier is the organization's top choice for specific categories. It helps guide procurement users to use approved and high-performing vendors. This status is typically applied after a supplier has completed all necessary qualifications and is meant to influence buying behavior, ensuring corporate spend is directed toward vetted and strategically aligned suppliers.

Answer

To automatically grant the supplier access to all sourcing events

Answer

To indicate that a supplier has passed all compliance checks

Answer

To disable the supplier from being used in any transactions

Question 12

Refer to the exhibit. What is the impact of this configuration on the ERP synchronization process?

Accepted Answer

It synchronizes only when the qualification status is 'Qualified'.. The configuration rule dictates that the ERP synchronization event is triggered only after the qualification status changes to 'Qualified'. This ensures that the ERP system only receives data for vendors that have passed all vetting stages. This is a critical governance control that prevents incomplete or unvetted supplier records from polluting the ERP environment, ensuring financial and regulatory integrity from the moment a new supplier is integrated into the transactional system.

Answer

It forces a real-time sync for all status changes.

Answer

It triggers a sync for every change, regardless of status.

Answer

It disables the ERP synchronization entirely.

Question 13

Refer to the exhibit. A procurement administrator is troubleshooting a failed supplier invitation process. What is the most likely cause of this error?

Accepted Answer

The Supplier Management configuration mapping for the Commodity Code hierarchy is incomplete or invalid.. The error indicates a mismatch between the Commodity Code hierarchy defined in the SAP Ariba configuration and the mappings expected by the Supplier Management module. When inviting a supplier, the system attempts to associate them with preferred categories. If these categories are not correctly synchronized or mapped within the master data, the invitation orchestration engine fails to resolve the object references, resulting in the logged error.

Answer

The supplier has already been invited to a different process project.

Answer

The registration questionnaire template is missing a mandatory commodity field.

Answer

The user account sending the invitation lacks permission to modify the supplier master data.

Question 14

A supplier has been disqualified in Ariba. What is the immediate, system-wide effect on pending purchase orders for this supplier?

Accepted Answer

The supplier is blocked from receiving new orders, but existing POs remain active.. Disqualification changes the supplier status but does not automatically cancel existing, active purchase orders. The procurement team must manually review and address open POs to avoid business disruption. This design ensures that organizations have control over the transition period, allowing them to complete pending transactions or redirect them to other suppliers without causing system-level errors or inadvertent data loss in the ERP integration.

Answer

All pending purchase orders are automatically cancelled.

Answer

All pending purchase orders are automatically moved to 'On Hold' status.

Answer

The supplier is immediately deleted from the database to prevent risk.

Question 15

Refer to the exhibit. A supplier attempts to submit a registration questionnaire but receives a validation error. What is the most likely cause based on the provided configuration?

Accepted Answer

The tax ID contains non-numeric characters or is not exactly nine digits.. The exhibit illustrates a data validation policy implemented via JSON. The pattern defined requires a nine-digit numerical string for the 'Supplier_Tax_ID' field. If the supplier enters a value that does not match this specific regex pattern, the policy triggers a 'block_submission' action. This mechanism is vital for maintaining high-quality master data and ensuring that tax information is compliant with local regulations before the supplier is approved for business.

Answer

The registration project template is currently set to 'Pending Approval'.

Answer

The supplier lacks the necessary permissions to edit the tax profile.

Answer

The Ariba Network connection has timed out during the submission request.

Question 16

A procurement manager wants to ensure that suppliers cannot participate in sourcing events until they have completed a specific qualification process. Which Ariba Supplier Management component is primarily designed to enforce this gatekeeping requirement?

Accepted Answer

Ariba Supplier Lifecycle and Performance. The SAP Ariba Supplier Lifecycle and Performance (SLP) module utilizes qualification projects to manage the readiness of suppliers. By linking the qualification status to the sourcing eligibility, organizations enforce a strict governance model where only verified suppliers interact with events. This ensures that administrative compliance and risk assessment benchmarks are met before procurement activity, mitigating supply chain vulnerabilities and ensuring alignment with corporate procurement policies and audit requirements.

Question 17

An administrator is setting up a new supplier request project template in SAP Ariba Supplier Management. The business requires that certain internal custom fields populate automatically based on the supplier category chosen by the requester during initiation. Which configuration mechanism should be utilized to achieve this dynamic behavior?

Accepted Answer

Define field dependency rules and conditions directly within the template project structure to dynamically show or populate attributes based on category.. Using conditions and field rules within the supplier request template configuration allows administrators to dynamically control field visibility, requirement levels, and pre-population based on user-driven selections such as categories. This ensures data integrity and streamlines the user entry process during initial supplier intake without requiring custom code integrations or external API interventions.

Answer

Configure supplier lifecycle rules using external web service calls to automatically evaluate category mappings during the initial request phase.

Answer

Implement custom JavaScript code inside the SAP Ariba user interface extension framework to manipulate DOM elements based on category selection.

Answer

Modify the global supplier classification matrix in the SAP Ariba Administrator workspace to enforce mandatory field defaults globally.

Question 18

Refer to the exhibit. What happens when a supplier from a country on the 'Restricted_List' attempts to submit their registration?

Accepted Answer

The submission is blocked automatically.. The JSON policy defines a conditional block where the registration submission is prevented if the supplier's country matches the restricted list. This is a critical automated control for global compliance. By enforcing these restrictions in the registration phase, the organization minimizes the risk of doing business with sanctioned entities, ensuring that all suppliers meet international trade requirements before they can ever be onboarded into the procurement system.

Answer

The registration is submitted but flagged for manual review.

Answer

The system prompts the user to enter a justification.

Answer

The registration is accepted but marked as 'High Risk'.

Question 19

Refer to the exhibit. What is the expected behavior when a supplier submits their registration in a system configured with this policy?

Accepted Answer

The project owner can reassign the approval task to another user.. The exhibit indicates that 'auto_approve' is false and 'delegate_approval' is true. Therefore, the system will not automatically approve the registration, and the designated project owner has the authority to delegate the approval task to another user. This is a common pattern in enterprise environments where subject matter experts must review supplier data but may need to reassign tasks due to workload or absence, ensuring business continuity in the onboarding process.

Answer

The registration is automatically approved upon submission by the supplier.

Answer

The registration approval task is automatically routed to the global administrator.

Answer

The registration is rejected if the project owner is not online.
