C_ARSUM Ariba Supplier Management Practice Test 11 — 15 Questions

Question 1

Why is it important to define 'Supplier Types' in SAP Ariba Supplier Management?

Accepted Answer

To enforce different registration/qualification requirements per segment.. Supplier types allow organizations to differentiate between various categories of vendors, such as strategic partners, service providers, or office supply vendors. By classifying suppliers, the company can apply specific registration and qualification templates to each type. This ensures that the data collection process is relevant and proportionate to the risk or nature of the relationship, preventing 'one-size-fits-all' bottlenecks and optimizing the onboarding process.

Answer

To dictate the tax rates for the supplier.

Answer

To limit the number of users who can invite a supplier.

Answer

To automatically lock the supplier record for editing.

Question 2

Which of the following actions should be taken if a supplier's registration data is found to be inaccurate during a periodic audit?

Accepted Answer

Initiate a profile update request to the supplier.. When registration data is inaccurate, the organization should trigger an 'Update' request to the supplier. This directs the supplier to the Ariba Network to correct the specific fields involved. Once the supplier submits the corrections, the internal team reviews the data against the established compliance policies. This process ensures that the supplier takes ownership of their information while maintaining auditability and control over the data quality.

Answer

Delete the supplier and ask them to re-register from scratch.

Answer

Manually update the information on behalf of the supplier.

Answer

Block the supplier immediately to prevent further business.

Question 3

What is the primary function of the 'Certificate Management' area in SAP Ariba Supplier Management?

Accepted Answer

To track and notify regarding expiration dates of documents.. Certificate Management allows organizations to track and manage supplier-provided certificates, such as ISO certifications, diversity certificates, or insurance documents. It provides automated expiration tracking and notification, ensuring that certificates remain valid. By centralizing this, procurement can proactively reach out to suppliers before a certificate expires, avoiding disruptions in service and ensuring that the supplier remains compliant with enterprise-wide quality and regulatory standards at all times.

Answer

To generate digital signatures for contracts.

Answer

To automatically issue certifications to suppliers.

Answer

To manage the supplier's Ariba Network account credentials.

Question 4

A procurement manager needs to ensure that all suppliers in the 'Preferred' status have completed the necessary risk assessment. Which SAP Ariba Supplier Lifecycle and Performance feature facilitates this requirement?

Accepted Answer

Supplier Management Process Project. Supplier management process projects are designed to trigger specific tasks, such as risk assessments, based on status changes or lifecycle events. By configuring the template to initiate a project when a supplier moves to 'Preferred', you ensure compliance and visibility. This integration is crucial for maintaining a clean vendor master and managing supplier risk effectively throughout the entire procurement lifecycle in the Ariba ecosystem.

Answer

Supplier Request Project

Answer

Supplier Performance Management

Answer

Supplier Qualification Project

Question 5

Refer to the exhibit. Why is the lifecycle process failing to launch for the supplier?

Accepted Answer

The project template configuration lacks an assigned project owner.. The error message explicitly states that the template lacks an assigned owner despite the business conditions being satisfied. SAP Ariba project templates require an owner to manage the lifecycle, monitor tasks, and ensure compliance. Without an assigned owner, the system cannot instantiate the project object, resulting in this failure. Proper template management includes verifying that project owners are defined for all active lifecycle processes.

Answer

The supplier does not have the 'IT_Services' commodity code.

Answer

The IT_Services category is not allowed for lifecycle projects.

Answer

The system is currently undergoing a database migration.

Question 6

Which component in SAP Ariba Supplier Management is responsible for collecting and verifying a supplier's diversity certification?

Accepted Answer

Supplier Registration Questionnaire. The Registration project is the primary vehicle for collecting supplier-provided data, including diversity information. Suppliers fill out questionnaires that capture their certifications, which are then verified by internal stakeholders. This process is essential for organizations tracking spend against diverse suppliers, ensuring that certification data is accurate, up-to-date, and available for reporting across the entire SAP Ariba procurement environment.

Answer

Supplier Performance Scorecard

Answer

Supplier Qualification Project

Answer

Supplier Risk Exposure Audit

Question 7

A supplier has been disqualified in Ariba. What is the immediate, system-wide effect on pending purchase orders for this supplier?

Accepted Answer

The supplier is blocked from receiving new orders, but existing POs remain active.. Disqualification changes the supplier status but does not automatically cancel existing, active purchase orders. The procurement team must manually review and address open POs to avoid business disruption. This design ensures that organizations have control over the transition period, allowing them to complete pending transactions or redirect them to other suppliers without causing system-level errors or inadvertent data loss in the ERP integration.

Answer

All pending purchase orders are automatically cancelled.

Answer

All pending purchase orders are automatically moved to 'On Hold' status.

Answer

The supplier is immediately deleted from the database to prevent risk.

Question 8

Why should a project manager use the 'Supplier Request' project instead of a direct 'Qualification' project for a new supplier?

Accepted Answer

To collect preliminary data for vetting before qualification.. The Supplier Request project serves as a gatekeeper, collecting essential preliminary information to determine if a supplier should even be considered for business. By decoupling the request from the qualification process, you reduce administrative burden and prevent the cluttering of the qualification system with non-viable suppliers. This staged approach is vital for maintaining a high-quality supplier database that complies with organizational procurement policies and internal risk management standards.

Answer

To bypass internal approval workflows.

Answer

To automatically sync the supplier to the ERP system.

Answer

To skip commodity code assignment.

Question 9

Refer to the exhibit. What happens when a supplier from a country on the 'Restricted_List' attempts to submit their registration?

Accepted Answer

The submission is blocked automatically.. The JSON policy defines a conditional block where the registration submission is prevented if the supplier's country matches the restricted list. This is a critical automated control for global compliance. By enforcing these restrictions in the registration phase, the organization minimizes the risk of doing business with sanctioned entities, ensuring that all suppliers meet international trade requirements before they can ever be onboarded into the procurement system.

Answer

The registration is submitted but flagged for manual review.

Answer

The system prompts the user to enter a justification.

Answer

The registration is accepted but marked as 'High Risk'.

Question 10

When designing a custom supplier qualification template, which field type should be used if you need to enforce a specific format, such as a Tax ID?

Accepted Answer

Validated field with a regex pattern. Using a validated field type is essential for data integrity. By specifying a format, you ensure that all suppliers enter data consistently, which is critical for downstream ERP synchronization. If data is not formatted correctly, the integration will fail or result in downstream errors during tax calculation or payment. Proper field configuration minimizes errors and streamlines the validation process for the procurement team reviewing the supplier's registration.

Answer

Question 11

Which user role in SAP Ariba Supplier Management is typically assigned to manage and approve registration projects?

Accepted Answer

Supplier Manager. The Supplier Manager role is the primary administrative function for overseeing the onboarding and registration lifecycle. This role grants the necessary permissions to review supplier submissions, initiate qualification projects, and manage status transitions. By centralizing these responsibilities within this role, organizations maintain a clear chain of command and ensure that only authorized users can approve or modify supplier master data, which is essential for data governance and security.

Answer

IT Administrator

Answer

Question 12

When a supplier updates their profile, how does the system ensure that the updated data is still accurate?

Accepted Answer

It triggers an internal review/approval task.. The system utilizes a validation workflow that triggers an internal review of the profile updates before they are committed to the master record. This ensures that any changes to critical supplier data, such as addresses or contact details, are verified by internal stakeholders. This process protects the organization from fraudulent or erroneous changes that could disrupt payment processes or compromise supply chain security, maintaining the integrity of the vendor master data.

Answer

It automatically updates the ERP without review.

Answer

It notifies the supplier to re-register entirely.

Answer

It relies on public record APIs to verify updates.

Question 13

What is the primary benefit of using 'Commodity Codes' in the Supplier Qualification project?

Accepted Answer

To enable specific qualification requirements based on category.. Commodity codes allow organizations to map suppliers specifically to the goods and services they provide. This granularity is essential for matching internal sourcing needs with the right suppliers. By utilizing these codes, procurement teams can efficiently filter and manage their supplier base, ensuring that only qualified suppliers are considered for relevant business opportunities, which reduces risk and improves the overall quality of sourcing outcomes within the company.

Answer

To automate the payment of invoices.

Answer

To bypass the need for supplier registration.

Answer

To force suppliers to change their business model.

Question 14

If a procurement manager wants to review supplier performance over the past two years, which tool should they prioritize?

Accepted Answer

Supplier Performance Reporting. Reporting and analytics provide the historical visibility required for long-term performance assessment. By leveraging pre-built or custom reports, managers can analyze historical SPM data, identifying trends in quality, delivery, and service. This analytical capability is critical for strategic decision-making, allowing the organization to determine whether to continue, expand, or terminate a supplier relationship based on documented long-term performance trends rather than just current snapshots of data.

Answer

Supplier Registration Project

Answer

A live audit of the supplier's website.

Answer

Reviewing individual purchase orders.

Question 15

Refer to the exhibit. Why did the supplier's profile update fail?

Accepted Answer

The input data did not follow the required formatting rule.. The error indicates that the bank account input did not match the required regular expression pattern, which enforces a specific international bank account format. This validation error is a deliberate safeguard to ensure financial data integrity and prevent downstream errors in the payment process. By rejecting non-conforming data, the system forces the supplier to provide correct information, which is essential for accurate, secure, and compliant financial transactions with global suppliers.

Answer

The bank account is already in use by another supplier.

Answer

The server connection to the bank was timed out.

Answer

The supplier does not have permission to update bank details.
