C_ARSUM Practice Test 18 — 15 Questions

Question 1

Refer to the exhibit. How do you resolve this error for a Procurement Administrator?

Accepted Answer

Update the user's role in the User Administration area. Access to specific qualification projects is managed via functional roles (permissions) in Ariba. Even for administrators, these roles must be explicitly assigned to interact with qualification workflows. This error confirms that the user’s current role set is insufficient for the requested action, necessitating an update to their user profile in the Ariba Administrator console to include the necessary qualification management authority.

Answer

Change the project's status to 'Open'

Answer

Add the user to the 'Project Team' tab

Answer

Re-sync the user profile with the ERP system

Question 2

Refer to the exhibit. Why did the supplier's profile update fail?

Accepted Answer

The input data did not follow the required formatting rule.. The error indicates that the bank account input did not match the required regular expression pattern, which enforces a specific international bank account format. This validation error is a deliberate safeguard to ensure financial data integrity and prevent downstream errors in the payment process. By rejecting non-conforming data, the system forces the supplier to provide correct information, which is essential for accurate, secure, and compliant financial transactions with global suppliers.

Answer

The bank account is already in use by another supplier.

Answer

The server connection to the bank was timed out.

Answer

The supplier does not have permission to update bank details.

Question 3

Which mechanism ensures that a supplier's risk profile is updated whenever a major negative news alert is detected in the system?

Accepted Answer

Automated risk score updates.. The integration between SAP Ariba and third-party risk intelligence providers allows for automated updates. When a risk signal is triggered, the system updates the supplier's risk score and can trigger workflows to notify the responsible procurement manager. This proactive monitoring is essential for managing the supply chain, as it allows companies to identify and react to potential threats in real-time, thereby protecting the business from operational, financial, and reputational damage.

Answer

Manual re-qualification.

Answer

Supplier self-reporting.

Answer

Annual review process.

Question 4

Which process ensures that a supplier's information is kept up-to-date after the initial registration is completed?

Accepted Answer

Periodic profile update projects and document expiry notifications.. Periodic profile updates or re-qualification processes allow organizations to request that suppliers refresh their data. This is crucial because business information like certificates, insurance, and contact details change over time. By implementing a proactive update cycle, companies reduce the risk of working with expired documentation or incorrect information, which is essential for maintaining regulatory compliance and ensuring that the procurement process remains smooth and legally sound throughout the long-term supplier lifecycle.

Answer

The system automatically scrapes data from the supplier's website.

Answer

Manual re-registration of the supplier every year.

Answer

Integration with a real-time public tax database.

Question 5

When a supplier is invited to register, which stage allows for the collection of custom data unique to the organization's requirements?

Accepted Answer

Supplier Registration. The Supplier Registration project is designed to be highly configurable, allowing organizations to add custom fields and sections. This flexibility is vital for capturing industry-specific details, regulatory requirements, or internal operational data that is not part of the standard global profile. By utilizing this stage, companies ensure that they gather exactly the information needed for internal vetting before the supplier is officially approved to conduct business.

Answer

Supplier Request

Answer

Supplier Qualification

Answer

External Profile Update

Question 6

Which component of the SAP Ariba Supplier Lifecycle and Performance (SLP) solution is responsible for managing the supplier's contact information?

Accepted Answer

The Supplier Profile. The Supplier Profile is the master object where contact information is stored and maintained. Through the SLP solution, suppliers are empowered to manage their own contact data via self-service, while internal users can update this data as needed. This centralized management ensures that communications are always routed to the correct individuals, minimizing the risk of information gaps during sourcing or operational processes, which is foundational for maintaining an accurate, global supplier database.

Answer

The Supplier Registration project

Answer

The Modular Questionnaire

Answer

The Ariba Network ID (ANID)

Question 7

Refer to the exhibit. An administrator is troubleshooting why suppliers cannot update their Tax ID information. Based on the provided configuration, what is the most likely cause?

Accepted Answer

The policy 'allowModification' is set to false, blocking all edits.. The exhibit shows a policy configuration where 'allowModification' is set to false. This prevents suppliers from editing their own profile data, which is a common security measure to ensure master data integrity. The administrator must verify if this policy is intended for the current project type. In Ariba Supplier Management, restrictive policies prevent data drift and ensure that all changes go through an internal audit process before being updated in the system.

Answer

The validation rule IS_VALID_TAX_ID is incorrectly formatted.

Answer

The TaxID field is missing from the supplier record.

Answer

The system is experiencing a synchronization delay with the ERP.

Question 8

An organization wants to use SAP Ariba to manage supplier risk for multiple tiers of their supply chain. What is the prerequisite for monitoring a tier-2 supplier?

Accepted Answer

The supplier must declare sub-tier relationships. Monitoring sub-tier suppliers requires the primary (tier-1) supplier to declare their own supply chain or for the buyer to upload the sub-tier relationships. This visibility is essential for deep-tier risk management, allowing organizations to identify potential disruptions occurring further up the supply chain. By proactively monitoring these relationships, companies can develop contingency plans, protecting themselves against risks that are not immediately apparent through traditional, direct-supplier-only monitoring programs.

Answer

The sub-tier supplier must be registered in the ERP

Answer

The buyer must buy the sub-tier products directly

Answer

Ariba Network subscription for all tier-2s

Question 9

Refer to the exhibit. What happens when a user attempts to add a new supplier with the same Tax ID as an existing supplier?

Accepted Answer

The entry is blocked and the administrator is notified.. The 'Block' action prevents the creation of a duplicate record, protecting the integrity of the master data. The system simultaneously notifies the 'Procurement_Admin', allowing them to investigate why a duplicate was attempted. This is a critical governance mechanism; it prevents fragmented supplier records that could lead to disjointed reporting, incorrect tax filings, and the inability to gain a holistic view of the spend and risk exposure associated with the vendor entity.

Answer

The record is merged automatically with the existing supplier.

Answer

The user is allowed to proceed but with a warning flag.

Answer

The duplicate is sent to the supplier to confirm their identity.

Question 10

Refer to the exhibit. What is the most likely cause of this error during the supplier registration update?

Accepted Answer

The supplier is already registered with that Tax ID.. This error occurs because the 'Tax_ID_Number' field is configured as a unique identifier across the system. The system detects that the input value already exists for another registered supplier. This constraint is vital for data integrity, as it prevents the creation of duplicate supplier records in the database, which would otherwise complicate financial reporting, tax compliance, and vendor management efforts within the enterprise procurement system.

Answer

The Tax ID format is incorrect.

Answer

The server connection was lost during the update.

Answer

The user does not have permissions to update the field.

Question 11

When a supplier is invited to register, which Ariba component validates that they are an existing entity on the Ariba Network?

Accepted Answer

The Ariba Network Global Lookup Service.. The Ariba Network uses a unique identifier, the ANID (Ariba Network ID), to track company entities. During registration, the system performs a lookup to prevent duplicate accounts. This is critical for maintaining clean master data; creating duplicate supplier records leads to fragmented spend analysis and reconciliation errors in downstream ERP systems, which complicates reporting and strategic supplier management.

Answer

The Supplier Registration Request object.

Answer

The ERP Vendor Sync Service.

Answer

The Supplier Lifecycle Master Data Repository.

Question 12

Refer to the exhibit. What is the most effective way to resolve this synchronization error?

Accepted Answer

Clean the master data in the ERP and trigger a re-sync.. Duplicate tax IDs indicate a conflict between the ERP's master data and the SAP Ariba system's unique identifier constraints. Resolving this requires cross-referencing the SID (Supplier ID) in both systems to determine if they refer to the same legal entity. Once identified, the administrator must merge or clean the master data in the ERP before re-triggering the synchronization, ensuring the Ariba cloud profile remains consistent and audit-ready.

Answer

Manually delete the existing supplier profile in SAP Ariba.

Answer

Modify the tax ID in the Ariba Supplier Profile directly.

Answer

Ignore the error and disable the ERP_SYNC_SERVICE module.

Question 13

What is the primary role of the 'Supplier Manager' user group in SAP Ariba Supplier Management?

Accepted Answer

To oversee the creation and maintenance of supplier projects.. The 'Supplier Manager' group is responsible for the day-to-day administration of the supplier base. This includes managing registration and qualification projects, reviewing supplier data updates, and overseeing the lifecycle status of vendors. They ensure that all supplier-related tasks are moving through the workflow appropriately and that documentation remains current, which is vital for maintaining audit-ready compliance and supporting the procurement organization's sourcing needs.

Answer

To authorize payments in the Ariba Invoice module.

Answer

To create and execute sourcing events.

Answer

To manage the Ariba system technical configuration.

Question 14

Refer to the exhibit. What is the impact of this policy configuration on supplier management?

Accepted Answer

It prevents unauthorized modifications to registration data. This policy prevents users from modifying registration fields once a project has reached the 'Registered' state. This is a crucial control to ensure data consistency and auditability. Once a supplier has been officially registered, changes to their core information should follow a formal change request process rather than allowing ad-hoc edits, thereby maintaining the integrity of the master data in both Ariba and the integrated ERP.

Answer

It allows suppliers to update their registration at any time

Answer

It forces a new project creation for every update

Answer

It triggers an automatic validation of the updated data

Question 15

What role does the 'Supplier Request' play in preventing duplicate supplier entries in Ariba?

Accepted Answer

It checks existing records for potential duplicates. The Supplier Request process includes an integrated matching engine that checks incoming request data against existing supplier records. By identifying potential matches early, the system helps maintain a 'single source of truth' for master data. This is crucial for procurement organizations to avoid fragmenting spend across multiple records for the same legal entity, which would compromise reporting accuracy and prevent the aggregation of volume for better contractual leverage.

Answer

It forces suppliers to create a unique ID

Answer

It prevents the creation of new suppliers entirely

Answer

It automatically merges all duplicate records
