Networking Fundamentals is 16% of JN0-106 and covers the OSI and TCP/IP models, Ethernet and IP addressing, subnetting, plus core protocols such as ARP, ICMP, TCP and UDP. Questions are multiple-choice and ask you to identify layers, map protocols to layers, calculate subnets, and interpret Junos interface and routing output.
📅 Days 11–14🎯 ~5 questions/day⚖ 16% of exam- ✓Mapping protocols like ARP, ICMP, TCP and UDP to OSI and TCP/IP layers

Junos OS Fundamentals
Junos OS Fundamentals is 17% of JN0-106 and covers the architecture and operational model that every other domain depends on. Questions test your grasp of the two daemons (mgd and rpd), the two REs and their roles, the two configuration databases (candidate and active), commit semantics, and the CLI operational-vs-configuration mode split. Expect straightforward recall plus small scenario judgements.
📅 Days 11–14🎯 ~2 questions/day⚖ 17% of exam- ✓Roles of the Routing Engine and Packet Forwarding Engine, and the rpd and mgd daemons
- ✓Difference between candidate configuration and active configuration, and what commit does
- ✓Junos CLI hierarchy: operational mode versus configuration mode, and edit/exit navigation
