CLCOR ON Premises Call Control Practice Test 7 — 15 Questions

Question 1

Which protocol is used by IP phones to register with the Cisco Unified Communications Manager?

Accepted Answer

SCCP or SIP. Cisco IP phones register with Cisco Unified Communications Manager using either SCCP (Skinny Client Control Protocol) or SIP (Session Initiation Protocol), depending on the phone model and firmware configuration. Both are supported signaling protocols for phone registration and call control in CUCM.

Answer

RTCP

Answer

MGCP

Answer

H.323

Question 2

You have implemented 'Local Route Group' in your dial plan. What is the main advantage of using this instead of static Route Groups?

Accepted Answer

It simplifies the dial plan by removing the need for location-specific route patterns.. Local Route Groups allow a single set of route patterns to be used across multiple locations by dynamically selecting the appropriate gateway based on the device's location. This eliminates the need to create duplicate route patterns for each location, simplifying the dial plan and reducing administrative overhead.

Answer

It forces the use of G.729.

Answer

It requires less CPU on the CUCM.

Answer

It allows faster call setup.

Question 3

Which menu path in CUCM Administration is used to configure the 'Cisco Unified Communications Manager Group'?

Accepted Answer

System -> Cisco Unified Communications Manager Group. The Cisco Unified Communications Manager Group is configured under System -> Cisco Unified Communications Manager Group in CUCM Administration. This menu path is where you define ordered lists of CUCM servers (groups) that devices use for call processing redundancy. The group is then assigned to device pools, which are applied to endpoints. The other menu paths do not contain this configuration option.

Answer

Serviceability -> CM Group

Answer

Device -> Device Settings -> CM Group

Answer

Advanced Features -> CM Group

Question 4

When using 'Call Pickup', how does a user pick up a call that is ringing on another phone in the same pickup group?

Accepted Answer

By pressing the 'Pickup' softkey.. Call Pickup allows a user to answer a call ringing on another phone in the same pickup group by pressing the 'Pickup' softkey (or dialing the pickup group code). The softkey triggers the Call Pickup feature, which redirects the ringing call to the user's phone. This is a standard CUCM feature for group call answering.

Answer

By dialing the target phone extension.

Answer

By selecting 'Hold' on their own line.

Answer

By accessing the CUCM web interface.

Question 5

You want to implement 'Presence' so users can see the status of other users. Which service must be running on the IM and Presence server?

Accepted Answer

Cisco Presence Engine. The Cisco Presence Engine is the core service on the IM and Presence server that processes and distributes presence information (status, availability, capabilities) between users. Without it running, presence updates cannot be published or subscribed to, so users cannot see each other's status.

Answer

Cisco SIP Proxy

Answer

Cisco XCP Router

Answer

Cisco TFTP

Question 6

When adding a new phone, what is the 'Device Name' parameter based on by default?

Accepted Answer

The MAC address of the phone.. When adding a new phone in Cisco Unified Communications Manager, the Device Name field is automatically populated with the phone's MAC address by default. This ensures each device has a unique identifier in the CUCM database, which is essential for configuration file delivery and registration.

Answer

The device pool name.

Answer

The extension number.

Answer

The user ID.

Question 7

You have a requirement to play a custom announcement when a call is placed on hold. Where do you configure this?

Accepted Answer

Music on Hold Audio Source.. Music on Hold (MOH) audio sources are configured under the Music On Hold Audio Source configuration in CUCM, where you define the audio file (e.g., a custom .wav or .au) and its parameters. This audio source is then referenced by a Music On Hold Server and assigned to device pools or other entities. To play a custom announcement on hold, you create a custom audio source and assign it appropriately.

Answer

Device Pool configuration.

Answer

Route Group configuration.

Answer

SIP Profile.

Question 8

A user is unable to use their 'Speed Dial' button. What is the first thing you should verify?

Accepted Answer

The Phone Button Template.. A Speed Dial button is a programmable line key whose function is defined by the Phone Button Template assigned to the phone. If the template does not include a Speed Dial (or the button is not configured as Speed Dial), the button will not work regardless of DN or partition settings. Verifying the Phone Button Template is therefore the first step.

Answer

The device pool.

Answer

The user's password.

Answer

The DN's partition.

Question 9

Which TWO features are managed by the 'Cisco Unified Serviceability' tool?

Accepted Answer

Alarm and Trace configuration. Cisco Unified Serviceability is the Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM) administration interface dedicated to operational and diagnostic functions, so Alarm and Trace configuration (option C) is correct because this tool is where you enable and configure alarms, traces, and the Real-Time Monitoring Tool (RTMT) alert/log settings for CUCM services. Service Activation (option E) is also correct because Cisco Unified Serviceability provides the Service Activation page used to start, stop, and restart network services and feature services (e.g., Cisco CallManager, Cisco TFTP, Cisco CTIManager) on the cluster nodes. IP Phone registration (option A) is not managed here; it is handled by the phone's configuration in Cisco Unified CM Administration and the registration process via the TFTP/CallManager services, not by Serviceability. Bulk phone import (option B) is performed with the Bulk Administration Tool (BAT) in Cisco Unified CM Administration, and user password reset (option D) is done through Cisco Unified CM Administration's End User configuration or via the Cisco Unified CM User Options/self-care pages, not through Serviceability.

Answer

IP Phone registration.

Answer

Bulk phone import.

Answer

User password reset.

Question 10

Which THREE components are part of the CUCM redundancy architecture?

Accepted Answer

Cisco Unified CM Group. In Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM) redundancy architecture, the Cisco Unified CM Group (option A) is a correct component because it defines the ordered list of CUCM nodes that a device (phone, gateway, or trunk) registers with and falls back to, providing call-processing redundancy. Publisher and Subscriber nodes (option D) are correct because the cluster's database replication model relies on a Publisher providing the master configuration database and Subscribers receiving replicated copies, so if a node fails, others continue call processing. SRST Reference (option C) is correct because it points to a Survivable Remote Site Telephony gateway that provides fallback call processing for remote-site phones when WAN connectivity to the CUCM cluster is lost, which is a key element of the overall redundancy design. The TFTP service (option B) is not a redundancy component; it is a service used for endpoint configuration file download and firmware, and while it can run on multiple nodes, it is not itself part of the redundancy architecture. Cisco Unity Connection (option E) is a separate voicemail/messaging application, not a component of CUCM call-processing redundancy.

Answer

The TFTP service.

Answer

Cisco Unity Connection.

Question 11

Which THREE parameters are affected when you change the 'Location' of a device?

Accepted Answer

Video bandwidth limits. Changing a device's Location in Cisco Unified Communications Manager applies the region and location bandwidth policies tied to that Location, so it directly affects the video bandwidth limits (A) and audio bandwidth limits (D) available for calls involving that device, since Location defines the maximum audio/video bit rate allowed between locations. It also changes the RSVP-enabled path (E), because Locations are used with RSVP-based call admission control to determine the reserved path and bandwidth between sites. The phone's directory number (B) is assigned independently via line/DN configuration and is not altered by moving the device to another Location. The phone's display language (C) is a device/user locale setting and is unrelated to Location-based bandwidth or RSVP parameters.

Answer

The phone's directory number.

Answer

The phone's display language.

Question 12

Which THREE types of media resources can be managed by an MRGL?

Accepted Answer

Transcoder. A Media Resource Group List (MRGL) in Cisco Unified Communications Manager is used to prioritize and group media resources, and the three media resource types it can manage are transcoders (B), conference bridges (D), and Music on Hold (MoH) servers (E). Transcoder (B) is correct because MRGLs assign transcoders to devices for codec conversion between different codecs (e.g., G.711 and G.729). Conference Bridge (D) is correct because MRGLs control which conference bridge resources are used for ad hoc and Meet-Me conferences. Music on Hold (MoH) Server (E) is correct because MRGLs determine which MoH server(s) provide audio streams to callers on hold. Cisco Unity Connection (A) is a voicemail system, not a media resource managed by MRGLs, and SIP Trunk (C) is a signaling/transport interface, not a media resource type in an MRGL.

Answer

Cisco Unity Connection.

Answer

SIP Trunk.

Question 13

A Cisco Unified Communications Manager cluster is using a SIP trunk to an ITSP. The ITSP sends calls to the enterprise with a +1 prefix, but the enterprise dial plan uses 10-digit numbers without the country code. You need to strip the +1 from the incoming calling and called numbers before they are presented to the dial plan. Where should you configure this translation?

Accepted Answer

Configure Called Party Transformation and Calling Party Transformation patterns on the SIP trunk and assign them to the trunk's inbound settings.. Incoming calls from a SIP trunk can be modified using Calling Party Transformation and Called Party Transformation patterns, which are applied to the trunk's inbound settings. These patterns strip the +1 prefix before the numbers are processed by the dial plan, ensuring the 10-digit format is used. This approach is native to CUCM and keeps digit manipulation scoped to the specific trunk.

Answer

Create a Translation Pattern in the Calling Search Space applied to the SIP trunk's incoming calls.

Answer

Modify the Route Group's distribution algorithm to remove the prefix during digit analysis.

Answer

Create a SIP Normalization Script that rewrites the SIP INVITE headers on the trunk.

Question 14

A user reports that when they dial an internal extension, they hear a fast busy tone. The administrator checks the CUCM configuration and finds that the user's phone is registered and the dialed extension exists. Which CUCM component is responsible for determining that the dialed digits are a valid internal extension and routing the call?

Accepted Answer

CallManager service. The Cisco CallManager service is the call control application that performs digit analysis and determines how to route calls. When a user dials an extension, the CallManager service checks for matching patterns and directory numbers. If no match is found or the call is rejected, the user hears a fast busy tone. Thus, the CallManager service is the correct component.

Answer

Cisco CTIManager service

Answer

Cisco TFTP service

Answer

Cisco IP Voice Media Streaming App service

Question 15

A Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM) cluster is configured with a SIP trunk to a Cisco Unified Border Element (CUBE) for PSTN connectivity. Users report that outbound calls to a specific area code fail, but all other calls succeed. The CUCM route pattern for that area code is configured with a route list that includes the SIP trunk. The CUBE shows that it receives the INVITE but rejects it with a 488 Not Acceptable Here. Which CUCM configuration should be checked first to resolve this issue?

Accepted Answer

The region assigned to the SIP trunk, which defines the codec used for calls.. A 488 Not Acceptable Here response from CUBE indicates that the media description (SDP) in the INVITE is not acceptable. The region assigned to the SIP trunk in CUCM defines the codec that will be offered for calls traversing that trunk. If the region forces a codec that CUBE cannot support or that is not configured on the dial peer, CUBE rejects the call. Therefore, the region configuration should be verified first.

Answer

The SIP trunk's Inbound Calls > Significant Digits setting.

Answer

The route group's distribution algorithm.

Answer

The SIP trunk's Outbound Calls > Calling Party Selection setting.
