Correct answer & explanation
TCP SYN sent from active peer
BGP session establishment begins with the TCP three-way handshake (SYN, SYN-ACK, ACK). Once TCP is established, BGP sends an OPEN message to negotiate capabilities. The peer responds with an OPEN message. After both OPENs are exchanged, BGP sends KEEPALIVE messages. Finally, the session moves to the Established state and UPDATE messages can be exchanged.
