CIS-CSM Communities Practice Test 4 — 15 Questions

Question 1

Which TWO features assist users in discovering relevant community discussions without needing to browse every forum? (Choose two.)

Accepted Answer

Tagging content with keywords and following tags. Option B is correct because tagging content with keywords and letting users follow those tags surfaces relevant discussions automatically in their feeds, so they don't have to browse each forum manually. Option E is correct because Global Search or AI Search placed in the portal header lets users query the entire community and get ranked, relevant thread results directly from any page. The remaining options do not help discovery: hardcoded announcement banners (A) broadcast fixed messages and cannot be dismissed or personalized, manual XML exports (C) require downloading and parsing the whole database, and emailing support for thread lists (D) is a slow manual workaround rather than an in-portal discovery feature.

Answer

Hardcoded announcement banners that cannot be closed

Answer

Manual XML data exports of the entire database

Answer

Forcing users to email support to ask for thread lists

Question 2

Which THREE components are typically customizable within a CSM portal Community Home page layout using Service Portal Designer or UI Builder? (Choose three.)

Accepted Answer

Recent activity feeds and top contributor leaderboards. Options A, C, and E are correct because Service Portal Designer and UI Builder let portal admins compose the Community Home page from configurable widgets and layout containers. A is right because recent activity feeds and top contributor leaderboards are standard community widgets that can be placed, reordered, and configured on the home page. C is right because hero banners and welcome messaging are presentation components commonly customized to brand and greet portal users. E is right because featured discussion widgets and trending topic carousels are also configurable community widgets that surface content on the home page. Options B and D are incorrect because MySQL schema/primary keys and core platform Java runtime classes are backend platform internals, not page-layout components exposed in Service Portal Designer or UI Builder.

Answer

The underlying MySQL database schema and table primary keys

Answer

Core platform Java runtime classes

Question 3

Which TWO benefits do organizations realize by integrating community forums with customer service management cases? (Choose two.)

Accepted Answer

Deflecting inbound cases by providing self-service peer answers. Option A is correct because integrating community forums with customer service management lets customers find peer-provided answers to common questions, which deflects inbound cases before they are ever formally opened and reduces agent workload. Option D is correct because the integration gives moderators a seamless path to escalate or convert an unresolved community question directly into a formal case, preserving the thread's context and routing it to the right service queue. The remaining options do not belong: B is unrelated to forum-to-case integration and blockchain is not used to encrypt customer passwords in this context, C concerns hardware provisioning rather than knowledge and case workflows, and E is false because community self-service supplements rather than replaces customer service agents.

Answer

Encrypting all customer passwords with blockchain technology

Answer

Automatically provisioning physical hardware for customers

Answer

Eliminating the need for any customer service agents

Question 4

When troubleshooting why community posts are flagged by moderation rules, which THREE areas should an administrator investigate? (Choose three.)

Accepted Answer

User trust levels or author reputation thresholds that might bypass moderation. Option B is correct because moderation decisions often depend on the author's trust level or reputation score, and if those thresholds are set to bypass or auto-approve certain users, posts may be flagged unexpectedly or fail to be moderated as intended. Option C is correct because the moderation audit logs and the status fields on the flagged content record provide the authoritative trace of which rule fired, when it fired, and the resulting state, which is essential for diagnosing why a post was flagged. Option E is correct because the configured moderation rules and keyword filter lists are the actual logic that evaluates post content, so a misconfigured keyword, regex, or rule condition directly explains false positives or unexpected flags. Option A does not belong because Mid Server certificate expiration affects MID Server connectivity and orchestration, not content moderation logic. Option D does not belong because outbound SMTP mail box or server status only affects notification delivery, not the moderation flagging decision itself.

Answer

Mid Server certificate expiration dates

Answer

The system mail boxes for outbound SMTP server status

Question 5

Which TWO roles or user groups typically interact with community moderation queues to review reported or flagged content? (Choose two.)

Accepted Answer

Users with the sn_communities_moderator role. Option A is correct because the sn_communities_moderator role is the dedicated ServiceNow Community role granted to users who work the moderation queues, where they review reported or flagged content and take actions such as approving, hiding, or deleting posts and comments. Option E is correct because Community Managers are the business-side user group that owns community governance and routinely monitors and processes the moderation queues to handle escalated or reported content. Option B is incorrect because DBAs manage database infrastructure and performance, not content moderation workflows. Option C is incorrect because ITIL dispatchers handle incident and request assignment, not community content review. Option D is incorrect because external consumers without portal accounts cannot access moderation queues, which require authenticated community roles.

Answer

Database administrators (DBA)

Answer

ITIL dispatchers

Answer

External consumers without portal accounts

Question 6

Which TWO metrics are typically tracked to measure the success and health of a customer service community? (Choose two.)

Accepted Answer

Case deflection rate attributed to community search and content. Case deflection rate attributed to community search and content (C) is a core community health metric because it quantifies how often users resolve issues through self-service community content instead of opening support cases, directly tying the community to reduced support costs and faster resolution. The ratio of questions with accepted answers and active contributors (D) measures both content quality and engagement, since accepted-answer ratios show whether peer responses actually solve problems while active-contributor counts indicate a sustainable, growing knowledge base. By contrast, physical server CPU utilization (A) is an infrastructure monitoring metric unrelated to community success, average hardware repair time in the warehouse (B) is a logistics/operations measure, and failed login attempts due to expired LDAP passwords (E) is an identity and access management or authentication health indicator, none of which reflect customer service community performance.

Answer

Physical server CPU utilization percentages

Answer

Average hardware repair time in the warehouse

Answer

Number of failed login attempts due to expired LDAP passwords

Question 7

Which THREE security and compliance practices should be enforced within peer-to-peer customer communities? (Choose three.)

Accepted Answer

Enforcing User Criteria to restrict proprietary forums to authorized accounts only. Option A is correct because enforcing User Criteria in the community platform restricts access to proprietary forums so only authorized accounts (matching defined criteria such as company, role, or entitlement) can view or participate, preventing unauthorized disclosure. Option B is correct because publishing clear community guidelines and terms of use sets participant expectations for acceptable behavior, data handling, and consequences, which is a foundational compliance and governance control for peer-to-peer communities. Option C is correct because automated moderation rules that intercept posts containing PII or sensitive data provide a preventive technical control to stop accidental or malicious exposure of regulated information before it is published. Option D is incorrect because granting admin rights to all active posters violates least privilege and would let any participant alter community settings, moderate others, or access restricted content. Option E is incorrect because allowing anonymous users to view internal financial discussions without logging in removes authentication and authorization, exposing confidential financial data and breaching access-control and compliance requirements.

Answer

Granting admin rights to all active community posters

Answer

Allowing any anonymous user to view internal financial discussions without logging in

Question 8

A support organization has noticed that community users are frequently asking questions that are already answered in published Knowledge base articles. To maximize case deflection via community content, what primary feature should the administrator integrate with the community search?

Accepted Answer

AI Search with configured Genius Results and Result Sources spanning both Knowledge and Communities. Intelligent Search configuration allows communities to leverage AI Search to surface both community threads and Knowledge articles, maximizing case deflection.

Answer

Email notifications triggered upon every forum post creation

Answer

Connect Support queues directly to the community homepage widget

Answer

Automated Incident Creation business rules on the sn_communities_content table

Question 9

An implementation specialist is configuring community notification settings so users receive alerts regarding discussions they follow. Which TWO actions or components are part of configuring community notifications out-of-the-box? (Choose two.)

Accepted Answer

Modifying the Email Notification records configured for the sn_communities_content table. Community notifications rely on subscription preferences and specific notification definitions tailored for community content events.

Answer

Disabling the global system property glide.email.activity.community

Answer

Writing custom webhooks to an external mail server for every forum insert

Answer

Enabling Connect Chat routing rules for all community subscriptions

Question 10

A customer service director wants to evaluate the effectiveness of the peer-to-peer community in deflecting incoming cases and engaging users. Which THREE metrics or reports are typically reviewed for community performance in CSM? (Choose three.)

Accepted Answer

Average response time and resolution rate for unanswered questions. Option B is correct because community performance in CSM is measured by responsiveness and resolution quality — tracking average response time and the resolution rate for unanswered questions shows whether community members are actually resolving peer questions. Option D is correct because case deflection via community search is a core CSM community KPI: it quantifies how many incoming cases were avoided because users found answers in community articles or threads. Option E is correct because active community users and engagement trends over time indicate whether the peer-to-peer community is growing and sustaining participation, which directly affects deflection and self-service success. Options A and C are incorrect: hardware asset depreciation schedules are an asset management concern unrelated to community deflection, and network bandwidth utilization of the Service Portal node is an infrastructure capacity metric, not a measure of community effectiveness or user engagement.

Answer

Hardware asset depreciation schedules linked to community users

Answer

Network bandwidth utilization of the Service Portal node

Question 11

When setting up a new community in ServiceNow CSM, an administrator can configure different types of content formats to encourage user participation. Which TWO content types are supported natively in ServiceNow Communities? (Choose two.)

Accepted Answer

Blogs (allowing authors to publish posts and readers to comment). Option B is correct because ServiceNow Communities natively supports Blogs, where authors can publish posts and community members can read and comment on them, making it a core content format for encouraging participation. Option D is correct because Questions are a native Communities content type, featuring a question-and-answer model with accepted answer functionality to mark the best response. Option A is incorrect because live chat transcript logs are not a native Communities content type; live chat is a separate channel/feature and transcripts are not published as community content. Option C is incorrect because direct database SQL query forms are not a Communities content format and would pose security and data-access concerns. Option E is incorrect because automated patch deployment forms are not a native Communities content type; patch management belongs to IT Operations Management/ITSM processes, not community content.

Answer

Live chat transcript logs

Answer

Direct database SQL query forms

Answer

Automated patch deployment forms

Question 12

A community manager wants to ensure that only users who have previously posted at least five helpful answers can receive the 'Community Expert' badge. Which ServiceNow Community feature should be configured to enforce this requirement?

Accepted Answer

Community badges with badge criteria. Community badges with badge criteria allow administrators to define specific thresholds, such as five helpful answers, that automatically trigger badge assignment. This feature is designed for recognition based on user activity and contributions, making it the correct choice for enforcing the stated requirement.

Answer

Forum permissions

Answer

User Criteria

Answer

Gamification rules

Question 13

A customer service manager notices that community members are posting duplicate questions across multiple forums, causing fragmentation. The manager wants to automatically suggest existing similar discussions when a user starts typing a new question. Which ServiceNow Community feature should be enabled?

Accepted Answer

Similarity search. Similarity search automatically compares new question text with existing community content and suggests similar discussions. This real-time suggestion reduces duplicate posts and fragmentation, directly addressing the manager's requirement.

Answer

Advanced search filters

Answer

Content moderation rules

Answer

Forum subscriptions

Question 14

A community manager at a medical device company needs to ensure that only users with an active support entitlement can view and post in a private forum dedicated to troubleshooting a regulated product. The forum must be hidden from users without that entitlement, and the restriction must apply consistently across forum lists, search results, and direct URLs. Which ServiceNow configuration should the manager use to meet this requirement?

Accepted Answer

Create a user criteria record that checks for the support entitlement and associate it with the forum through the forum's Can Read and Can Contribute related lists.. Forum access in Communities is controlled by user criteria records associated with the forum's Can Read and Can Contribute related lists. This approach enforces the entitlement condition uniformly across forum lists, search results, and direct URLs. Roles, manual invitations, and group membership do not provide the same granular, condition-based enforcement, so associating user criteria with the forum is the correct configuration.

Answer

Configure an ACL on the forum table that requires the user to have the sn_customerservice.customer role.

Answer

Create a community group for entitled users and assign the forum to that group, relying on group membership for access.

Answer

Set the forum's Access Type to 'Private' and manually invite each entitled user to the forum.

Question 15

A customer service manager wants to recognize community members who consistently provide helpful answers. The manager decides to award points for each accepted answer and to automatically grant a badge when a user reaches 100 points. Which ServiceNow Communities feature should the manager configure to implement this recognition program?

Accepted Answer

Reputation points and badges. Reputation points and badges are designed specifically for gamified recognition in ServiceNow Communities. Administrators can define point values for actions like accepted answers and set badge thresholds, such as 100 points, to automatically reward active contributors. Other features like user criteria, moderation queues, and notifications serve different purposes and cannot implement this recognition program.

Answer

User criteria and forum permissions

Answer

Notification preferences and subscriptions

Answer

Community moderation queues
