Tableau CRM Analytics

Question 2

An activation target to a commercial CRM is failing because the payload size exceeds the target system's maximum API request limit. How should the Data Cloud Consultant resolve this issue?

Accepted Answer

Adjust the batch size or chunking configuration settings on the activation target to reduce payload volume per request.. The failure is caused by the activation payload exceeding the target API's maximum request size, so the correct fix is to reduce the volume sent per request by adjusting the batch size or chunking configuration on the activation target. Data Cloud activation targets expose batching/chunking settings that split the segment membership into smaller API calls, keeping each payload under the target's limit. This preserves the activation logic while conforming to the external system's constraints.

Answer

Disable Identity Resolution to reduce the number of linked profile attributes.

Answer

Increase the Data Cloud heap size limit in the org-wide governor settings.

Answer

Convert the activation into a streaming Data Action target.

Question 3

A Data Cloud Consultant is configuring a Data Action Target that sends data to an external endpoint via webhook. The external endpoint requires a custom HTTP header for authorization (e.g., 'X-API-Key'). Where is this custom header configured?

Accepted Answer

In the Data Action Target configuration screen under custom headers and authentication settings.. Custom HTTP headers such as X-API-Key for webhook authentication are configured directly in the Data Action Target setup screen, where you define the endpoint URL, HTTP method, headers, and authentication parameters. This is the designated place in Data Cloud to specify outbound webhook behavior, including custom headers required by the external endpoint. The configuration is scoped to the Data Action Target itself, not to CRM Named Credentials or ingestion pipelines.

Answer

Inside the activation membership criteria builder.

Answer

In the Named Credentials setup within Salesforce Core CRM.

Answer

Via a custom Ingestion API payload transformation script.

Question 4

A consultant is creating an activation for an advertising network that requires phone numbers in E.164 format. The raw data in Data Cloud has various phone number formats. Where should the consultant address this formatting requirement?

Accepted Answer

Use Data Transforms during the ingestion and data modeling phase to standardize phone numbers into E.164 format.. Data cleansing, transformation, and standardization should occur upstream using Data Transforms during ingestion or via Calculated Insights before segment creation and activation.

Answer

Rely on the ad network to automatically parse and format messy phone numbers.

Answer

Write an activation-level formula field using unsupported custom SQL.

Answer

Configure a formatting mask in the Activation Target properties menu.

Question 5

An organization has configured a Data Action that triggers a Salesforce Flow whenever a high-value purchase event is ingested. The flow fails intermittently with a concurrency error. What is the underlying reason for this behavior in Data Cloud?

Accepted Answer

High-volume streaming events from Data Cloud are triggering simultaneous Flow transactions in Salesforce Core, exceeding concurrency limits.. Data Actions trigger real-time asynchronous or synchronous events in external systems or Core CRM. High-volume streaming data can cause high concurrency on Flow execution in Core, leading to locking or concurrency limits.

Answer

The Connected App has exceeded its daily API call allocation.

Answer

Data Cloud batch jobs are conflicting with real-time segment activation schedules.

Answer

The Identity Resolution ruleset is re-matching profiles while the flow runs.

Question 6

Which role or permission set is typically required to create and publish segment activations in Data Cloud?

Accepted Answer

Data Cloud Marketing Manager or Data Cloud Admin permission set. Users need specific Data Cloud administrator or marketing user permissions, such as the Data Cloud Marketing Manager or Data Cloud Admin permission set, to create activations.

Answer

System Administrator in Core CRM without permission set assignment

Answer

Salesforce CPQ Advanced Approver profile

Answer

Marketing Cloud Administrator without Data Cloud permissions

Question 7

A consultant is reviewing activation logs in Data Cloud and notices an error indicating 'Activation Target Rate Limit Exceeded'. What is the appropriate remediation strategy?

Accepted Answer

Modify the activation batch size or adjust the scheduling frequency to spread out API calls and respect third-party rate limits.. When an activation target rate limit is exceeded, the consultant should throttle the export batch size, stagger activation schedules, or request an API rate limit increase from the target platform vendor.

Answer

Increase the Data Cloud DMO storage capacity limit.

Answer

Switch the activation target from batch to real-time streaming.

Answer

Delete and recreate the Identity Resolution ruleset.

Question 8

A marketing team needs to deliver daily targeted campaigns to Google Ads using a Data Cloud segment. The ad platform requires the audience file to be refreshed every 24 hours. How should the consultant configure the activation schedule?

Accepted Answer

Configure the Activation schedule to run daily, immediately following the Segment refresh schedule.. For a daily Google Ads activation, the Activation schedule must be aligned with the Segment refresh schedule so that the audience file reflects the latest segment membership when it is sent. Configuring the Activation to run daily immediately after the Segment refresh ensures the freshest audience is delivered within the required 24-hour window. This is the standard pattern for scheduled batch activations to ad platforms.

Answer

Rely on manual activation republishing triggered by an administrator every morning.

Answer

Set the Activation to stream in real-time to Google Ads using webhooks.

Answer

Configure the Data Stream refresh rate to 24 hours.

Question 9

What is the primary purpose of an Activation Target in Data Cloud?

Accepted Answer

To store the authentication and destination configuration details for an external platform receiving activations.. An activation target stores the authentication, destination, and configuration details required to connect Data Cloud to an external platform or destination.

Answer

To define the demographic criteria used to build audience segments.

Answer

To ingest raw data files from an external cloud storage bucket.

Answer

To merge duplicate customer profiles into a single unified record.

Question 10

An organization uses Data Cloud to manage customer activations across multiple cloud storage buckets and marketing platforms. They need to audit which user published a specific activation and when. Where can an administrator find this detailed audit trail?

Accepted Answer

Salesforce Event Monitoring and Data Cloud audit event logs.. Salesforce Event Monitoring captures Data Cloud audit events, including activation publish actions, and records the user, timestamp, and details of the operation. Administrators can query these events via Event Monitoring's log files or the Data Cloud audit event logs to determine who published a specific activation and when. This is the authoritative audit trail for user-initiated actions in Data Cloud.

Answer

The Identity Resolution match rules summary report.

Answer

The Data Stream refresh history dashboard.

Answer

The Connected App access token expiration log.

Question 11

A team wants to send promotional emails using Marketing Cloud Engagement based on a Data Cloud segment. However, when creating the activation, the Marketing Cloud Engagement Business Unit is not appearing in the drop-down list. What is the likely cause?

Accepted Answer

The connected Marketing Cloud Engagement user lacks administrative permissions across the target Business Unit, or the installed package needs re-authorization.. When a Marketing Cloud Engagement Business Unit does not appear in the activation drop-down, the most common cause is a permissions or authorization issue: the connected Marketing Cloud user must have administrative rights over that Business Unit, and the installed Marketing Cloud package must be properly authorized. Data Cloud uses the connected app and package to enumerate available Business Units, so missing permissions or an expired/re-authorized package hides the BU from the list.

Answer

Marketing Cloud Engagement does not support Data Cloud activations for child Business Units.

Answer

The segment has not been published in Data Cloud yet.

Answer

Data Cloud does not support Marketing Cloud Engagement integrations without a separate Middleware license.

Question 12

Which object relationship is essential when activating attributes alongside a segment in Data Cloud?

Accepted Answer

A valid relationship between the attribute's DMO and the Unified Individual DMO.. To activate attributes alongside a segment, the attribute's DMO must have a valid relationship to the Unified Individual DMO so Data Cloud can join the attribute values to the correct unified profiles. Without that relationship, the activation cannot resolve which individual each attribute value belongs to, and the attribute cannot be included in the activation payload.

Answer

A Tableau CRM dashboard binding string.

Answer

An Apex trigger linking the Data Source Object to the Case object.

Answer

A hardcoded foreign key constraint in the raw CSV ingestion file.

Question 13

An enterprise is experiencing performance degradation during activation publication. The consultant notices that multiple large segments are scheduled to activate at the exact same hour. What architectural adjustment should the consultant make?

Accepted Answer

Stagger the activation publish schedules across different time windows to distribute system load and API concurrency.. When multiple large segments publish to activation targets at the same hour, they compete for API concurrency limits, compute resources, and downstream target rate limits, causing performance degradation. Staggering publish schedules across different time windows distributes the load, avoids concurrency throttling, and improves activation reliability. This is the standard architectural best practice for activation scheduling.

Answer

Convert all activation targets into real-time streaming data actions.

Answer

Increase the Identity Resolution match rule frequency to hourly.

Answer

Disable data stream ingestion while activations are publishing.

Question 14

What happens when a segment is recalculated in Data Cloud regarding its associated activations?

Accepted Answer

Associated activations update their membership list based on the newly recalculated segment during their next scheduled run.. When a segment is recalculated, existing activations associated with that segment reflect the updated audience membership upon their next scheduled activation run.

Answer

The activation target loses its authentication credentials.

Answer

Activations are published immediately in real-time regardless of their schedule.

Answer

Associated activations are automatically deleted and must be recreated from scratch.

Question 15

A consultant needs to send customer segment data to an external SFTP server on a nightly basis. Which activation target type should be selected?

Accepted Answer

Cloud File Storage activation target (configured for SFTP/Cloud Storage export). To send segment data to an external SFTP server on a nightly schedule, the correct activation target type is Cloud File Storage configured for SFTP/Cloud Storage export. This target type writes activation payloads as files to a configured storage location, including SFTP, and supports scheduled batch delivery. It is purpose-built for file-based outbound integrations.
