Avoiding the creation of workarounds until a permanent fix is ready.

Question 7

What is the primary role of the 'Service Desk' in a modern CDS environment?

Accepted Answer

Serving as the primary communication point for users.. The service desk serves as the primary point of contact and communication between the service provider and the users. In CDS, it is not just for logging tickets; it acts as a hub for understanding user needs, managing expectations, and orchestrating the support process. It is a critical enabler of the customer experience, providing a human face to technical services and ensuring that user feedback loops are actively managed.

Answer

Developing all software features independently.

Answer

Writing and maintaining all technical system documentation.

Answer

Approving all changes to the production environment.

Question 8

Which statement best describes the relationship between 'Service Level Agreements' (SLAs) and 'User Experience' in CDS?

Accepted Answer

SLAs provide a foundation for performance, but user sentiment is crucial.. SLAs are quantitative targets, while user experience is a qualitative outcome. An SLA might be met, but the user may still be unhappy. CDS emphasizes that while SLAs are important for managing operational performance, they should not be the sole focus. Teams must look beyond the raw data of SLA compliance to understand the actual sentiment and productivity of the users, ensuring that the service truly provides the value the business needs.

Answer

SLAs are the only metric that matters for evaluating service success.

Answer

User sentiment should always override contractual SLA obligations.

Answer

User experience is irrelevant if all technical SLAs are being met.

Question 9

Which THREE practices are critical for maintaining security within a high-velocity CDS development lifecycle?

Accepted Answer

Integrating automated vulnerability scanning into the CI/CD pipeline.. Security in a high-velocity environment cannot be an afterthought; it must be integrated throughout the development process (DevSecOps). This involves automating security scans, establishing clear policies, and ensuring that security is a shared responsibility across the entire team. These practices allow teams to identify vulnerabilities early, prevent security regressions, and ensure that rapid delivery does not compromise the overall security posture of the service or the organization.

Answer

Performing manual security reviews after every deployment.

Answer

Keeping security policies hidden to prevent unauthorized bypasses.

Question 10

Refer to the exhibit. Which operational benefit does the 'Blue-Green' deployment strategy provide in this CDS configuration?

Accepted Answer

It enables immediate rollbacks and minimizes service downtime.. Blue-Green deployment allows for near-zero downtime and quick rollback capability. By maintaining two identical environments, the team can deploy to the 'green' environment and test it fully before switching traffic from the 'blue' environment. If an issue occurs, switching back is instantaneous. This is a vital CDS practice for maintaining high service availability and minimizing the risk associated with production releases, directly supporting operational stability.

Answer

It reduces the storage cost of maintaining two separate environments.

It eliminates the need for any pre-deployment testing.

Question 11

What is the primary objective of 'Swarming' as an incident management technique in a CDS context?

Accepted Answer

To resolve complex incidents by utilizing cross-functional expertise immediately.. Swarming involves bringing together a group of cross-functional experts to resolve a complex incident as soon as it arises, rather than passing it through multiple tiered support levels. This technique reduces the time spent on administrative handoffs and focuses collective intelligence on solving the problem immediately. It is highly effective in CDS environments for accelerating MTTR and fostering a culture of collaborative problem-solving across different IT disciplines.

Answer

To ensure that incidents are handled by the most junior staff members.

Answer

To increase the number of handoffs between different support teams.

Answer

To strictly enforce the use of predefined, rigid escalation paths.

Question 12

An organization is designing a value stream to handle emergency security patching for cloud-hosted applications. During the flow analysis, the team notices that approval gates for urgent patches take an average of four hours due to manual compliance checks. Which action should the value stream manager take first to optimize this flow?

Accepted Answer

Integrate automated compliance checks and pre-approval policies into the CI/CD pipeline for low-risk security patches.. Optimizing a value stream requires identifying bottlenecks and waste without compromising control. Introducing automated compliance validation directly addresses the four-hour manual delay while maintaining rigorous security governance, thereby improving flow velocity. This matters in Create, Deliver and Support because balancing speed and governance is central to high-velocity service performance.

Answer

Remove all approval gates entirely to ensure patches are deployed instantly to production environments without human intervention.

Answer

Reassign the compliance verification task to the development team to bypass the dedicated security review board.

Question 13

A development team is implementing shift-left testing as part of their value stream improvement initiative. The primary objective is to catch defects earlier in the creation phase. However, developers are now complaining about excessive alert fatigue and increased cycle times due to unrefined automated static code analysis tools. How should the service value system address this issue?

Accepted Answer

Collaborate with developers and security teams to tune the static analysis rulesets, filtering out low-priority noise and actionable alerts.. Shift-left testing requires careful tuning of tools to prevent negative behavioral impacts such as alert fatigue. By refining the rulesets and prioritizing high-severity findings, the organization can restore developer trust and maintain velocity. This scenario highlights the ITIL 4 principle of 'progress iteratively with feedback' and ensures that tooling supports rather than hinders the value stream.

Answer

Revert all shift-left testing practices immediately and return to traditional late-stage testing conducted exclusively by quality assurance specialists.

Answer

Disable all automated static code analysis tools and rely entirely on manual peer reviews for every code commit.

Answer

Increase the frequency of automated security scans to run on every keystroke in the integrated development environment.

Question 14

A development team is struggling with high levels of 'technical debt' that hinders their ability to deliver new features. Which approach best aligns with CDS guidance to balance flow and quality?

Accepted Answer

Allocate a fixed percentage of capacity in every sprint to address technical debt and refactoring.. CDS emphasizes the importance of managing technical debt as part of the value stream. By incorporating refactoring and maintenance tasks into the regular planning cycle rather than treating them as separate projects, teams ensure long-term sustainability. This balance prevents the accumulation of issues that slow down future velocity, ensuring the continuous delivery of value remains viable while maintaining system integrity and service reliability over time.

Answer

Pause all feature development for three months to rewrite the entire legacy codebase.

Answer

Prioritize technical debt only when a critical incident occurs in the production environment.
