CCNP Practice Exam 60 — 20 Questions

Question 1

Drag and drop the steps of RSPAN session configuration and traffic flow into the correct order, from first to last.

Accepted Answer

Create a dedicated RSPAN VLAN on all switches. The correct order starts with creating a dedicated VLAN for RSPAN traffic, then configuring the source switch to monitor traffic and forward it to that VLAN, followed by configuring the intermediate switches to transport the RSPAN VLAN, then configuring the destination switch to receive and analyze the traffic, and finally verifying end-to-end packet flow.

Question 2

Given the following configuration on a Cisco IOS-XE device:

router ospf 1
 network 10.0.0.0 0.255.255.255 area 0
!
interface GigabitEthernet0/0
 ip address 10.1.1.1 255.255.255.0
 ip ospf cost 10
!
interface GigabitEthernet0/1
 ip address 10.2.2.1 255.255.255.0
!

Which statement is true about OSPF operation?

Accepted Answer

GigabitEthernet0/0 will have an OSPF cost of 10, and GigabitEthernet0/1 will have a default cost based on its bandwidth.. The ip ospf cost 10 command is applied only to GigabitEthernet0/0, explicitly setting its OSPF cost to 10. GigabitEthernet0/1 does not have a cost configured, so OSPF will use the default cost calculated from the interface's bandwidth (reference bandwidth divided by interface bandwidth). Therefore, GigabitEthernet0/0 has cost 10, and GigabitEthernet0/1 has the default cost.

Answer

Both interfaces will have an OSPF cost of 10.

Answer

Both interfaces will have the same OSPF cost because they are in the same area.

Answer

OSPF will not run on either interface because the network command uses a wildcard mask of 0.255.255.255.

Question 3

Drag and drop the steps of IP addressing scheme design and subnetting steps into the correct order, from first to last.

Accepted Answer

Determine total number of hosts needed per subnet. IP addressing design starts with gathering requirements, then choosing a private address space. Subnetting is applied to create subnets, which are assigned to specific network segments, and finally summarized to reduce routing table size.

Question 4

Drag and drop the steps of network documentation and change management workflow into the correct order, from first to last.

Accepted Answer

Submit change request with scope and reason. Change management begins with a request and impact assessment, followed by approval. After implementation, verification ensures success, and finally the documentation is updated to reflect the change.

Question 5

Which two statements about Network Function Virtualization (NFV) architecture are true? (Choose two.)

Accepted Answer

NFV decouples network functions from proprietary hardware appliances.. Option A is correct because the core premise of NFV is decoupling network functions (such as firewalls, routers, and load balancers) from dedicated proprietary hardware appliances, allowing them to run as software on standard commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) servers. Option C is correct because in the ETSI NFV reference architecture, Virtual Network Functions (VNFs) execute on top of the NFV Infrastructure (NFVI), which provides the compute, storage, and network resources (often via a hypervisor) that the VNFs consume. Option B is incorrect because NFV explicitly aims to avoid dependence on specialized hardware such as ASICs, relying instead on general-purpose hardware, though acceleration technologies may optionally be used. Option D is incorrect because resource orchestration across multiple VIMs is the responsibility of the NFV Orchestrator (NFVO), while the VNF Manager handles the lifecycle management of VNF instances. Option E is incorrect because NFV does not mandate virtual machines; container-based and other cloud-native deployments are valid forms of VNF implementation.

Answer

NFV requires specialized ASICs to achieve line-rate performance.

Answer

The VNF Manager is solely responsible for resource orchestration across multiple VIMs.

Answer

NFV mandates the use of virtual machines and cannot use container-based deployments.

Question 6

Drag and drop each VNF category on the left to its matching example on the right.

Accepted Answer

Virtual Router: Cisco CSR 1000v. VNFs replace physical appliances; common examples include virtual routers, firewalls, and load balancers.

Question 7

Drag and drop each SD-WAN controller on the left to its matching function on the right.

Accepted Answer

vManage: Centralized management, monitoring, and GUI dashboard. vManage provides centralized management and monitoring; vSmart distributes control plane policies and OMP routes; vBond authenticates and orchestrates initial device onboarding and NAT traversal.

Question 8

Drag and drop the steps of NFVI resource allocation and VNF instantiation into the correct order, from first to last.

Accepted Answer

NFVI admin creates tenant and allocates compute/storage/network. The correct order starts with the NFVI administrator creating a tenant and allocating compute, storage, and network resources. Then the VNF descriptor is uploaded to the NFVO, which triggers the VNFM to request resource reservation. After resources are reserved, the VNFM instantiates the VNF using the allocated resources. Finally, the VNF is configured and activated to provide the intended service.

Question 9

Drag and drop each VM storage type on the left to its matching characteristic on the right.

Accepted Answer

Thin: Allocates storage only as data is written. Thin provisioning allocates space on demand. Thick provisioning allocates all space at creation. RDM (Raw Device Mapping) provides direct access to a LUN. VMDK is the virtual disk file format. VHDX is Microsoft’s virtual hard disk format.

Question 10

Drag and drop the steps of EIGRP stub configuration for hub-and-spoke into the correct order, from first to last.

Accepted Answer

Enter EIGRP router configuration mode. In hub-and-spoke EIGRP, the spoke router is configured as a stub to limit query propagation. First, enter router configuration mode, then enable EIGRP on the spoke, configure it as a stub, optionally restrict advertised routes, and finally verify the stub status.

Question 11

Drag and drop the steps of EIGRP variance-based unequal-cost load balancing into the correct order, from first to last.

Accepted Answer

Verify feasible successors in the topology table. To enable unequal-cost load balancing, first ensure feasible successors exist, then set the variance multiplier, optionally adjust the metric offset, and finally verify the load sharing across multiple paths.

Question 12

Drag and drop the steps of NAT overload (PAT) packet translation process into the correct order, from first to last.

Accepted Answer

Host sends packet with private source IP and port. PAT translates private source IPs to a public IP with unique port numbers. The host sends a packet, the router creates a translation entry, replaces the source IP and port, forwards the packet, and reverses the process on the return.

Question 13

A company is deploying a WAN with MPLS VPN and wants to ensure that customer traffic is isolated from other customers. Which technology is used to maintain separation in the MPLS core?

Accepted Answer

Virtual Routing and Forwarding (VRF). VRF (Virtual Routing and Forwarding) is the technology used in MPLS VPN to maintain customer traffic separation within the MPLS core. Each customer is assigned a unique VRF on the Provider Edge (PE) router, which maintains a separate routing table and forwarding instance, ensuring that traffic from one customer never crosses into another customer's routing domain. This separation is enforced at Layer 3, independent of the MPLS label switching that occurs in the core.

Answer

VLAN tagging

Answer

MPLS labels

Answer

IPsec tunnels

Question 14

A network engineer runs the following command on Switch SW9:

SW9# show monitor session 9
Session 9
---------
Type : Remote Destination Session
Source RSPAN VLAN : 300
Destination Ports : Gi1/0/40
    Encapsulation : Native
    Ingress : Disabled

Based on this output, what can be concluded?

Accepted Answer

This switch receives mirrored traffic from RSPAN VLAN 300 and sends it to Gi1/0/40.. The output shows a Remote Destination Session, meaning this switch (SW9) is the destination switch in an RSPAN configuration. It receives mirrored traffic from RSPAN VLAN 300 and forwards it out of the destination port Gi1/0/40. The 'Source RSPAN VLAN: 300' indicates the VLAN carrying the mirrored traffic from the remote source switch, and 'Destination Ports: Gi1/0/40' confirms the local egress port.

Answer

This is a local SPAN session with source VLAN 300.

Answer

The RSPAN VLAN 300 is used to send traffic to a remote switch.

Answer

Ingress traffic on Gi1/0/40 is forwarded to the RSPAN VLAN.

Question 15

Drag and drop the steps of MPLS Traffic Engineering (TE) tunnel setup (RSVP) into the correct order, from first to last.

Accepted Answer

Configure IGP extensions (OSPF/IS-IS) for TE. MPLS TE tunnel setup begins with IGP extension configuration to propagate link attributes, followed by explicit path definition. RSVP-TE then signals the tunnel using PATH messages, which are processed by intermediate routers to reserve bandwidth. Finally, RESV messages confirm the reservation and establish the tunnel.

Question 16

Drag and drop each MPLS label operation on the left to its matching action on the right.

Accepted Answer

Push: Adds a new label to the top of the label stack. Push adds a new label to the stack, pop removes the top label, and swap replaces the top label with a new one.

Question 17

Drag and drop the steps of MPLS L2VPN (AToM) pseudowire setup into the correct order, from first to last.

Accepted Answer

Configure attachment circuit (AC) on PE. AToM pseudowire setup starts with configuring the attachment circuit on both PE routers. Then a pseudowire class is defined, specifying encapsulation and control word. The VC label is signaled via LDP, and the pseudowire is bound to the attachment circuit. Finally, the pseudowire becomes operational and forwards L2 frames.

Question 18

Drag and drop the steps of Metro Ethernet E-Line service provisioning into the correct order, from first to last.

Accepted Answer

Define service parameters and endpoints. E-Line provisioning starts with defining the service attributes and customer endpoints. The provider then configures the UNI on each customer edge device. Next, the EVC is created across the provider network to connect the two UNIs. Finally, the service is tested and activated for the customer.

Question 19

Drag and drop each LDP message type on the left to its matching function on the right.

Accepted Answer

Hello: Discovers LDP neighbors on a link. Discovery uses Hello messages, Session uses Initialization/Keepalive, Advertisement uses Label Mapping, and Notification signals errors.

Question 20

Examine the following configuration for a Cisco IOS-XE device:

interface GigabitEthernet0/0
 ip address 10.0.0.1 255.255.255.252
 ipv6 address 2001:db8::1/64
 ipv6 ospf 1 area 0
!
interface GigabitEthernet0/1
 ip address 192.168.1.1 255.255.255.0
 ipv6 address 2001:db8:1::1/64
 ipv6 ospf 1 area 0
!
ipv6 router ospf 1
 router-id 2.2.2.2

Which statement is true about OSPFv3 operation?

Accepted Answer

OSPFv3 will form adjacencies over both interfaces using link-local addresses.. OSPFv3 forms adjacencies using IPv6 link-local addresses (fe80::/10), not the global unicast addresses configured on the interfaces. The `ipv6 ospf 1 area 0` command enables OSPFv3 on the interface, and the router automatically uses the link-local address as the source for hello packets. The global IPv6 addresses (2001:db8::1/64 and 2001:db8:1::1/64) are used for reachability but not for neighbor establishment.

Answer

OSPFv3 will form adjacencies over both interfaces using the configured IPv6 addresses.

Answer

OSPFv3 will only run on GigabitEthernet0/0 because the router-id is not configured for GigabitEthernet0/1.

Answer

OSPFv3 requires an explicit network command under the OSPFv3 process to enable on interfaces.
