REFramework practice questions

The REFramework domain covers UiPath's Robotic Enterprise Framework template: its four states (Initialization, Get Transaction Data, Process Transaction, End Process), Config.xlsx and Orchestrator queue configuration, transaction items, retry logic, and exception handling. Questions present state-machine scenarios, exhibits of config sheets, and ask you to predict default framework behavior or choose correct modifications.

Courseiva uses original exam-style practice questions designed for learning and revision. The goal is to understand the concepts, recognise exam patterns, and improve through explanations — not memorise copied exam dumps.

What the exam tests

What to know about REFramework

Be able to trace REFramework execution state by state, explain how TransactionItem and queue items flow, and correctly classify exceptions. The single most important thing: know that Business Rule Exceptions bypass retries and go straight to Failed status, while System Exceptions are retried.

The four REFramework states and the transitions between them via the State Machine and Final State

TransactionItem variable usage, queue item retrieval, and the io_TransactionData/out_TransactionItem arguments

Business Rule Exception versus System Exception handling, retry counts, and the SetTransactionStatus activity

Config.xlsx sheets (Settings, Constants, Assets) and their consumption during Initialization

Why learners struggle

Why REFramework questions are commonly missed

RAM questions are commonly missed because learners confuse physical form factors (DIMM vs SO-DIMM) and fail to distinguish between memory speed (MHz) and latency (CL).

  • ·DIMM vs SO-DIMM — desktop vs laptop form factor confusion
  • ·DDR3 vs DDR4 vs DDR5 — notch position and voltage differences
  • ·MHz vs CL — speed vs latency trade-offs in performance
  • ·Single-channel vs dual-channel — bandwidth impact misconception
  • ·ECC vs non-ECC — error correction support in servers vs desktops
  • ·32-bit vs 64-bit — maximum addressable RAM limit

Watch out for

Common REFramework exam traps

  • ▸Confusing Business Rule Exception with System Exception: BREs skip retry and mark the item Failed, while System Exceptions trigger retries up to MaxRetryNumber.
  • ▸Assuming the Process state retries automatically; retries are driven by the Get Transaction Data state and SetTransactionStatus, not by a loop inside Process Transaction.
  • ▸Editing Config.xlsx without matching the Config dictionary keys or forgetting to invoke the InitAllSettings workflow, so values are never loaded.

Refer to the exhibit. A transaction fails due to an application exception. How many times will the REFramework retry this specific transaction?

Exhibit

Config.xlsx contains: Key='MaxRetryNumber', Value='3'. The Orchestrator Queue setting for 'Max Retries' is set to '0'.

If an application exception occurs during the 'Process Transaction' state, what is the default behavior of the REFramework regarding the 'TransactionItem'?

A developer configures the Robotic Enterprise (RE) Framework with Get Transaction Data invoking a custom workflow that reads items from an Orchestrator queue using Get Queue Items with the Reference filter. During execution, the process repeatedly processes the same queue item after a transient application error causes a retry. Which configuration in the RE Framework is responsible for ensuring that the retried item is not treated as a new transaction?

A developer must build a UiPath automation whose main workflow follows the Robotic Enterprise Framework structure. The developer opens UiPath Studio and selects the 'Robotic Enterprise Framework' template from the New Project dialog. Which set of files does this template create to form the framework's core skeleton?

Question 7mediummultiple choice

A developer is creating a UiPath automation using the Robotic Enterprise Framework. The automation must process invoices from a queue in Orchestrator. During testing, the developer notices that after processing the first transaction successfully, the automation does not move to the next transaction but instead exits the loop and goes to the End Process state. What is the most likely cause of this behavior?

Question 8mediummultiple choice

You are configuring a REFramework-based automation. The Get Transaction Data state calls a workflow that retrieves the next queue item. During testing, you notice that when the queue is empty, the process throws an exception instead of ending gracefully. Which property of the Get Transaction Data state's transition condition must be configured to prevent this?

You are customizing the REFramework to handle a scenario where a business rule exception occurs during the Process Transaction state. You want to ensure that the transaction is marked as failed with a specific reason and that the process continues with the next transaction. Which two actions should you perform? (Choose two.)

A developer is implementing a REFramework automation that processes expense reports. The automation must handle application exceptions that occur due to transient network issues. The developer wants to ensure that when such an exception occurs, the transaction is retried up to three times before being marked as failed. Which configuration in the REFramework should the developer modify to achieve this?

A developer is tuning a REFramework automation that processes a queue. During testing, several transactions fail with application errors that seem transient. The developer wants the framework to retry these before marking them as failed. Which two settings control this behavior? (Choose two.)

A developer is working on a REFramework project that uses an Orchestrator queue. The developer needs to ensure that when a transaction fails due to a system exception, the error details are added to the queue item for later analysis. Which activity should be used in the SetTransactionStatus workflow to add the exception details to the queue item?

Question 13mediummultiple choice

A developer is building a REFramework automation that processes purchase orders. The automation must log a custom message to Orchestrator whenever a transaction is successfully processed. The developer wants to ensure that the log message includes the transaction item's reference. Where should the developer add the Log Message activity to achieve this with minimal impact on the framework's standard flow?

You are configuring the End Process state of the REFramework. After all transactions have been processed, you need to close all applications and log out of any user sessions. Which workflow is invoked by default in the End Process state to perform these cleanup tasks?

A developer is customizing the REFramework to process data from a local Excel file instead of an Orchestrator queue. The developer needs to modify the Get Transaction Data state to read rows from the Excel file and assign each row to the TransactionItem variable. Which two actions must the developer perform to ensure the framework correctly processes all rows and terminates properly? (Choose two.)

A developer is using the REFramework to automate a process that interacts with a web application. The automation must handle a situation where the web application is temporarily unavailable, causing a system exception. The developer wants the framework to retry the transaction after a short delay. Which state in the REFramework is responsible for implementing a delay before retrying a transaction after a system exception?

A developer is implementing a REFramework automation that processes invoices from an Orchestrator queue. Each invoice requires opening a web application and entering data. During the Process state, a system exception occurs because the web application is temporarily unavailable. The developer wants to ensure that the transaction is retried automatically according to the queue's retry settings. Which action should be taken in the Process state to achieve this?
