SNOW-CAD Practice Test 1 — 30 Questions

Question 1

Which THREE of the following are true about ACLs (Access Control Lists)? (Choose three.)

Accepted Answer

ACLs can include conditions that must be met for access.. Option A is correct because ACLs are rule sets whose individual entries (ACEs) contain conditions—such as matching user, group, role, source IP, or time—that must be satisfied before the requested access is granted. Option D is correct because ACLs define permissions that explicitly allow or deny operations like read (SELECT/view) and write (INSERT/UPDATE/DELETE) on records or objects, which is their core purpose. Option E is correct because ACLs can be attached to specific resources and scoped to a particular application or context, so permissions apply only within that application's scope. Option B is wrong because ACLs are enforced server-side (by the database, OS, or service), not evaluated on the client, which the client could bypass. Option C is wrong because ACLs apply broadly to many object types—tables, records, files, network interfaces, and other resources—not only to system tables.

Answer

ACLs are evaluated on the client side.

Answer

ACLs are only applicable to system tables.

Question 2

A report on the 'incident' table shows duplicate counts due to the 'active' field being true for some records that shouldn't be counted. The report is using a simple count. How can the admin ensure only active incidents are counted?

Accepted Answer

Add a filter condition: 'active = true'.. To ensure only active incidents are counted in a report on the incident table, the administrator should add a filter condition 'active = true'. This filters the report to include only records where the active field is true, thus excluding any records where active is false or empty.

Answer

Create a business rule to set active=false for certain records.

Answer

Remove the 'active' field from the report.

Answer

Group the report by the 'active' field.

Question 3

Which THREE of the following are features available in ServiceNow for integrating data with external systems? (Choose three.)

Accepted Answer

SOAP Web Service. Option A (SOAP Web Service) is correct because ServiceNow provides outbound SOAP web service support via SOAP Message and related modules, and inbound SOAP via Scripted SOAP Web Services, enabling XML-based integration with external systems. Option B (LDAP) is correct because ServiceNow offers an LDAP integration through the LDAP Server and LDAP OU configuration records, used to import user and group data from directory servers. Option D (REST API) is correct because ServiceNow exposes the REST API (Table API, Import Set API, Scripted REST APIs) and outbound REST Message functionality for integrating with external systems over HTTP. Option C (Email) is not one of the marked integration features here, since email is primarily a notification and inbound email action mechanism rather than a data integration API. Option E (Print) is incorrect because printing is a UI/output capability, not a data integration feature.

Answer

Email

Answer

Print

Question 4

A script include has a function that uses the 'GlideRecordSecure' class. When called from a Business Rule in a different scope, it throws a security exception. What is the most likely cause?

Accepted Answer

The script include does not have the 'Accessible from' property set to all scopes.. The 'Accessible from' property on a Script Include controls which scopes can invoke its functions. When this property is not set to 'All scopes', a Business Rule in a different scope cannot call the Script Include, resulting in a security exception. The GlideRecordSecure class itself is accessible across scopes, but the Script Include's access restriction prevents the call.

Answer

The function is not defined as a static function.

Answer

The GlideRecordSecure class is not accessible from other scopes.

Answer

The script include is not marked as public.

Question 5

When creating a new table using the 'Create Table' module, which setting determines whether the table will inherit fields from an existing table?

Accepted Answer

Extends. 'Extends,' is correct because it allows the new table to inherit fields from an existing parent table. Option A, 'Application,' defines the application scope, not inheritance. Option C, 'Table name,' is the system name. Option D, 'Table label,' is the display name.

Answer

Application

Answer

Table name

Answer

Table label

Question 6

An admin notices that a business rule on the 'incident' table that sets the 'assigned_to' field based on the caller's manager is not always firing. The rule is set to run 'Before' and 'Update'. What is the most likely reason?

Accepted Answer

The condition of the business rule is not met because it requires a specific field to change.. A before-update business rule only fires when the record is updated and the rule's condition evaluates to true. If the condition requires a specific field to change (for example, caller_id changes), then updates that do not modify that field will not trigger the rule, which explains why it is not always firing. This is the most likely cause given the rule is otherwise correctly configured.

Answer

The business rule is set to run asynchronously.

Answer

The user lacks the 'incident_edit' ACL.

Answer

The business rule order is set to 100, making it run too late.

Question 7

A developer is creating a new Service Portal page and wants to add a widget that displays a list of the current user's open incidents. The widget must be reusable across multiple pages. Where should the developer create the widget record?

Accepted Answer

In the Service Portal > Widgets module. Service Portal widgets are stored in the sp_widget table and are created via the Service Portal > Widgets module. This allows them to be defined once and reused across multiple pages, either directly or as embedded widgets. Creating a widget in this module ensures it is available for reuse.

Answer

In the sys_ui_page table via a UI Page record

Answer

In the UI Builder under the Components section

Answer

In the Widgets related list on the Service Portal page record

Question 8

A company is integrating with an external HR system using a REST API to create and update user records in the sys_user table. The API endpoint requires a token that expires every 24 hours. The integration is scheduled to run hourly. The token is stored in a credential record. After a few days, the integration fails with a 401 Unauthorized error. The error log shows "Invalid token". What is the most likely cause?

Accepted Answer

The token was refreshed but the credential record was not updated.. The token expires every 24 hours, so after the first day, the stored token becomes invalid. The integration runs hourly and likely attempts to refresh the token, but if the refreshed token is not saved back to the credential record, the old token persists and causes the 401 error. Option A is correct because the most likely cause is that the token was refreshed but the credential record was not updated. The other options are less likely: there's no evidence the URL changed (B), the credential record was deleted (C), or the IP changed (D).

Answer

The REST API endpoint URL changed.

Answer

The credential record was deleted.

Answer

The IP address of the external system changed.

Question 9

Drag and drop the steps to create a new Catalog Item in ServiceNow into the correct order.

Accepted Answer

Navigate to Maintain Items, then Create New, then Set Category and Details, then Add Variables, then Submit. The correct order: navigate to Maintain Items, create new, set category and details, add variables, and submit.

Answer

Navigate to Maintain Items, then Create New, then Add Variables, then Set Category and Details, then Submit

Answer

Set Category and Details, then Navigate to Maintain Items, then Create New, then Add Variables, then Submit

Answer

Navigate to Maintain Items, then Add Variables, then Create New, then Set Category and Details, then Submit

Question 10

A ServiceNow instance is configured to use LDAP for user authentication and role membership. After a recent LDAP schema change, users can authenticate but some users are missing their assigned roles. The LDAP server is returning all attributes correctly. What is the most likely cause of this issue?

Accepted Answer

The 'LDAP Group DN' format in the LDAP server configuration does not match the new schema. The LDAP Group DN format defines how ServiceNow maps LDAP groups to roles. After a schema change, if the DN structure for groups has been altered (e.g., OU names changed), the stored format in the LDAP server configuration will no longer match, causing role membership to fail even though user authentication (which uses a separate base DN and filter) still works. The LDAP server returning all attributes correctly confirms the issue is in the mapping configuration, not in data retrieval.

Answer

The LDAP server's base DN for user search has changed

Answer

The 'Use secure connection' checkbox is unchecked in the LDAP configuration

Answer

The LDAP server is not returning the 'memberOf' attribute for users

Question 11

Drag and drop the steps to create a UI Action in ServiceNow into the correct order.

Accepted Answer

Navigate to UI Actions, create new, define table and names, set conditions, script, submit. The correct order: navigate to UI Actions, create new, define table and names, set conditions, script and submit.

Answer

Navigate to UI Actions, create new, define table and names, script, set conditions, submit

Answer

Navigate to UI Actions, create new, set conditions, define table and names, script, submit

Answer

Navigate to UI Actions, set conditions, create new, define table and names, script, submit

Question 12

A developer is creating a catalog item that requires a user to upload a file. Which variable type should be used?

Accepted Answer

Attachment. The Attachment variable type is specifically designed for file uploads in ServiceNow catalog items. It provides a built-in file picker and stores the uploaded file as an attachment on the requested record, enabling users to submit documents directly through the catalog form.

Answer

Multi Line Text

Answer

Single Line Text

Answer

Checkbox

Question 13

A developer needs to display a warning message to the user when a specific field value changes on a form, but the record should still be savable. Which approach should be used?

Accepted Answer

Create an 'onChange' Client Script using g_form.addErrorMessage() or g_form.showFieldMsg().. An 'onChange' Client Script runs on the client side when a specific field value changes, allowing the developer to display a warning message using g_form.addErrorMessage() or g_form.showFieldMsg() without preventing the record from being saved. This approach ensures the user sees the warning interactively while still being able to submit the form, which matches the requirement exactly.

Answer

Create a UI Policy with a condition and a UI message.

Answer

Create a Business Rule that uses gs.addErrorMessage().

Answer

Create a Data Policy for the field and set a warning message.

Question 14

A large enterprise runs ServiceNow on a single instance. They have a custom table 'u_project_task' that stores task details for projects. Each project task has a reference field to the 'u_project' table. The 'u_project' table has approximately 50,000 records, and the 'u_project_task' table has about 2 million records. Users report that opening a project record and viewing its related tasks takes over 30 seconds. The system uses an out-of-box related list to display tasks. The instance has standard hardware resources. The administrator has already confirmed that there are no performance issues with the database server or network. Which course of action should the administrator take to improve the performance of the related list?

Accepted Answer

Create a database index on the 'u_project' field in the 'u_project_task' table to speed up the join.. The performance bottleneck is the database query that joins the large 'u_project_task' table (2M records) with the 'u_project' table on the reference field. Without an index on the 'u_project' field in 'u_project_task', the database must perform a full table scan for each related list query. Creating a database index on that foreign key column allows the database to use an index seek, dramatically reducing query time.

Answer

Archive project tasks older than 1 year to a separate table to reduce the data volume.

Answer

Increase the glide.ui.related_list.max_timeout property to allow the query more time.

Answer

Add additional application nodes to the instance to distribute the load.

Question 15

Drag and drop the steps to create an ACL (Access Control List) in ServiceNow into the correct order.

Accepted Answer

Navigate to ACLs, then create a new ACL record, then define the type, operation, and name, then set the condition, then submit.. The sequence: navigate to ACLs, create new, define type/operation/name, set condition, and submit.

Answer

Define the type, operation, and name, then navigate to ACLs, then create a new ACL record, then set the condition, then submit.

Answer

Set the condition, then navigate to ACLs, then create a new ACL record, then define the type, operation, and name, then submit.

Answer

Create a new ACL record, then navigate to ACLs, then define the type, operation, and name, then set the condition, then submit.

Question 16

An organization uses an LDAP integration to import user accounts into ServiceNow. The integration creates a large number of users, but some users are missing their manager field. The manager field in LDAP is a distinguished name (DN). The transform map uses a reference field mapping with "Display value" unchecked. The target field "manager" on sys_user is a reference to sys_user. The import set log shows no errors for those records. What is the most likely cause?

Accepted Answer

The LDAP DN values do not match the sys_id of the manager users.. The manager field is a reference to sys_user. When mapping an LDAP DN (distinguished name) to a reference field with 'Display value' unchecked, the system expects a sys_id or a value that can be matched via a reference qualifier. Since the DN is not a sys_id and no other matching logic is applied, the mapping fails silently, leaving the field empty. The import set log shows no errors because the transformation completes but the field is not populated.

Answer

The transform map's "Coalesce" field is set on manager.

Answer

The import set's "On Conflict" setting is set to "Ignore".

Answer

The manager field in LDAP is empty for some users.

Question 17

A developer notices that the business rule does not set the assignment group as expected when a new record is created with state 0. What is the most likely issue?

Accepted Answer

The assignment_group value is not a valid sys_id of a group.. The most likely issue is that the assignment_group value provided in the script is not a valid sys_id of an existing group. In ServiceNow, the assignment_group field is a reference field to the sys_user_group table, and it must contain a valid sys_id. If the sys_id is invalid or does not exist, the field will not be set, and the business rule will appear to have no effect.

Answer

The script has a syntax error.

Answer

The business rule runs after the record is saved, so updates are ignored.

Answer

The business rule condition is incorrect.

Question 18

A developer is testing a REST API call to retrieve active users with the ITIL role created since last month. The response returns an error. What is the most likely cause?

Accepted Answer

The query parameter sysparm_query uses a script which is not allowed in REST API calls.. The error occurs because the sysparm_query parameter in a REST API call to the /api/now/table/sys_user endpoint does not support scripts; it only accepts encoded query strings using operators like '=', '^', 'STARTSWITH', etc. Using a script in sysparm_query violates the REST API specification, which expects a simple query string, not executable code, leading to a bad request error.

Answer

The Accept header should be application/xml.

Answer

The endpoint should be /api/now/table/sys_user_list.

Answer

The query should use sysparm_fields instead of sysparm_query.

Question 19

A company has developed a custom Scripted REST API endpoint that processes incoming orders and then makes synchronous outbound REST calls to an external shipping system for validation. During testing with low concurrency, the endpoint works correctly. However, in production with high concurrency, the endpoint frequently times out and returns 504 errors to the caller. The performance team has confirmed that the external shipping system is responsive and the network latency is acceptable. Which course of action should the development team take to resolve the timeout issue?

Accepted Answer

Refactor the script to make asynchronous HTTP requests and process the shipping validation response using a separate queue or business rule.. The issue is that synchronous outbound REST calls block the incoming request thread, and under high concurrency, threads are exhausted, causing timeouts and 504 errors. Refactoring to asynchronous HTTP requests allows the incoming request to complete quickly, while the shipping validation response is processed separately via a queue or business rule. This decouples the processing and scales better under load.

Answer

Deploy additional MID Servers to distribute the outbound call load.

Answer

Implement a caching layer to store shipping validation results and avoid repeated calls to the external system.

Answer

Increase the timeout value in the outbound REST Message record to accommodate peak loads.

Question 20

Drag and drop the steps to create a new table in ServiceNow into the correct order.

Accepted Answer

Navigate to System Definition > Tables, then click New, then define table properties (label, name, etc.), then set attributes (extends, access, etc.), then submit.. The order is: navigate to tables, click new, define table properties, set attributes, then submit.

Answer

Navigate to System Definition > Tables, then click New, then set attributes (extends, access, etc.), then define table properties (label, name, etc.), then submit.

Answer

Navigate to System Definition > Tables, then define table properties (label, name, etc.), then click New, then set attributes, then submit.

Answer

Navigate to System Definition > Tables, then click New, then define table properties, then submit, then set attributes.
