PL-900 Practice Test 9 — 10 Questions

Question 1

A company uses a Power Platform environment that contains several production apps. They need to ensure that changes to these apps are reviewed and approved before deployment to the production environment. What should they implement?

Choose an answer to begin — your selection is scored in the full session.

Accepted Answer

Use managed solutions and Azure DevOps for application lifecycle management (ALM) with deployment gates.. Managed solutions and Azure DevOps with deployment gates provide a structured Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) process. This allows changes to be reviewed, tested, and approved before deployment to a production environment, ensuring governance and control over modifications.

Answer

Create data loss prevention (DLP) policies for the production environment.

Answer

Assign the System Administrator role to all developers.

Answer

Configure Microsoft Purview to audit changes and require approval.

Question 2

Which TWO are benefits of using Microsoft Power Platform for business process automation? (Select TWO)

Accepted Answer

It reduces development time compared to traditional coding.. Option A is correct because Power Platform's low-code/no-code designers (Power Apps Studio, Power Automate's visual designer, and prebuilt connectors) let makers assemble apps and flows with drag-and-drop components and formulas instead of writing full custom code, which shortens delivery time versus traditional development. Option D is correct because Power Platform is natively integrated with Microsoft 365 (SharePoint, Teams, Outlook, Dataverse) and Azure services (Azure Functions, Logic Apps, Microsoft Entra ID, API Management), so connectors and identity/data services work out of the box. Option B is not a general benefit: Power Apps and Power Automate are cloud services that normally require connectivity, and offline use is limited to specific Power Apps mobile offline scenarios, not the platform as a whole. Option C is inaccurate because advanced scenarios (custom connectors, plug-ins, PCF controls, complex expressions) do require coding or scripting skills. Option E is false because Power Platform supports hundreds of non-Microsoft connectors (Salesforce, SAP, SQL Server, Twitter/X, Dropbox, etc.), not only Microsoft data sources.

Answer

It can be used offline without any connectivity.

Answer

It requires no coding skills for any scenario.

Answer

It only works with Microsoft data sources.

Question 3

A team is building a customer service solution using Power Apps and Dataverse. They need to ensure that customer data is synchronized with Dynamics 365 Customer Service. Which approach should they use?

Accepted Answer

Use Dataverse as the data store and connect both Power Apps and Dynamics 365 to it. Dataverse is the native data platform underlying both Power Apps and Dynamics 365 Customer Service. By using Dataverse as the shared data store, both applications read and write the same tables (e.g., Account, Contact, Case) in real time, eliminating synchronization latency and duplication. This is the recommended architecture for integrating Power Apps with Dynamics 365.

Answer

Build a custom connector to transfer data between Power Apps and Dynamics 365

Answer

Implement a third-party middleware solution

Answer

Export data from Dynamics 365 and import it into Power Apps periodically

Question 4

A user wants to build an app that allows field technicians to view work orders and capture photos offline. Which type of Power App should be chosen?

Accepted Answer

Canvas app with offline capability enabled.. Canvas apps can be enabled for offline use via the mobile app, allowing field technicians to view work orders and capture photos without connectivity. Option A is incorrect because Power Pages sites are public-facing websites, not designed for offline field worker scenarios. Option B is incorrect because AI Builder is a service for adding AI capabilities, not an app type; embedding it does not provide native offline support. Option C is incorrect because model-driven apps have limited offline capabilities and are not as flexible for offline data capture as canvas apps.

Answer

Power Pages site with offline access.

Answer

AI Builder model embedded in a canvas app.

Answer

Model-driven app because it natively supports offline.

Question 5

A company has a Power BI dataset that refreshes daily. Users report that the report shows stale data from two days ago. What is the most likely cause?

Accepted Answer

The scheduled refresh has failed for the past two days. The most likely cause is that the scheduled refresh has failed for the past two days. Power BI datasets that rely on scheduled refresh must complete successfully to update the data; if the refresh fails, the dataset retains the last successful refresh’s data, which in this case is from two days ago. Users seeing stale data from two days ago directly indicates that the refresh has not succeeded since then.

Answer

The dataset uses DirectQuery mode

Answer

Incremental refresh is configured incorrectly

Answer

The on-premises data gateway is offline

Question 6

A company is using Power Automate flows that connect to multiple third-party services. The security administrator wants to ensure that no sensitive data is sent to unauthorized external services. Which feature should be used to enforce this requirement?

Accepted Answer

Create and apply Data Loss Prevention (DLP) policies.. Data Loss Prevention (DLP) policies in Power Platform define which connectors are Business, Non-Business, or Blocked, and prevent flows from combining connectors across groups — thereby stopping sensitive data from flowing to unauthorized external services. This is the purpose-built governance control for restricting connector usage across flows and apps.

Answer

Enable audit logging in the Power Platform admin center.

Answer

Configure environment routing rules.

Answer

Use the Power Platform Copilot to monitor flows.

Question 7

A Power Apps developer needs to store an image uploaded by a user in a canvas app. The app uses Microsoft Dataverse. Which column type should be used for the image?

Accepted Answer

Image column. The Image column type in Microsoft Dataverse is purpose-built for storing a single image per record and is optimized for rendering in model-driven and canvas apps. It stores the image in a special format that supports thumbnail generation and efficient display, unlike generic file or binary storage. This makes it the correct choice when a user uploads an image that needs to be displayed directly in the app.

Answer

Text column

Answer

File column

Answer

Binary column

Question 8

A company has a Power BI dashboard that displays real-time data from Azure Stream Analytics. Which connection type should they use?

Accepted Answer

Push dataset. Push datasets are designed for real-time streaming scenarios where data is pushed into Power BI via APIs, such as from Azure Stream Analytics. Unlike Import or DirectQuery, Push datasets support automatic refresh of streaming data without requiring a scheduled refresh, making them ideal for real-time dashboards.

Answer

Import

Answer

DirectQuery

Answer

Composite model

Question 9

Which THREE components are part of a model-driven app? (Choose three.)

Accepted Answer

Forms. In Power Apps, a model-driven app is composed of metadata-driven components rendered by the platform, and Forms (A) are one of them: they define the data-entry and display layout for a table's records, with types like Main, Quick Create, and Card forms. Views (B) are also core components, since they define how lists of records are filtered, sorted, and displayed in the app's grids. The Sitemap (E) is the component that defines the app's navigation structure, organizing tables, views, and other elements into areas, groups, and subareas shown in the app. Screens (C) belong to canvas apps, where the maker drags-and-drops UI controls onto a blank canvas, not to model-driven apps. Triggers (D) are not a model-driven app component; event-driven logic in model-driven apps is implemented through business rules, workflows, plug-ins, or Power Automate, not a 'Triggers' building block.

Answer

Screens

Answer

Triggers

Question 10

Fabrikam Inc. uses Power Automate to automate expense report approvals. The flow is triggered when an expense report is submitted in a SharePoint list. The flow then sends an approval request to the expense approver via the Approvals connector. If approved, the flow updates the SharePoint list status to 'Approved' and sends a confirmation email to the submitter. If rejected, it updates the status to 'Rejected' and sends a rejection email. Currently, the flow works for single approvers, but the business now requires that if the expense amount exceeds $5,000, the approval must be sent to a senior manager instead of the regular manager. You need to modify the flow to meet this requirement with minimal maintenance. What should you do?

Accepted Answer

Add a Condition action to check the expense amount and then use two separate approval actions. Adding a Condition action that checks the expense amount and then branches to two separate approval actions is the simplest, lowest-maintenance way to route based on a threshold. It keeps everything in one flow, uses native controls, and requires no additional flows or complex orchestration. This directly satisfies the requirement with minimal moving parts.

Answer

Use a Scope action to group the approval actions

Answer

Create a child flow that handles the approval routing

Answer

Add parallel branches for each approval path
