MB-910 Describe Dynamics 365 Field Service Practice Test 10 — 15 Questions

Question 1

Refer to the exhibit. The IoT alert shown is received. What will happen in Dynamics 365 Field Service?

Accepted Answer

A work order is automatically created for the customer Contoso. In Connected Field Service, IoT alerts can be configured with an automated workflow (via Power Automate or the IoT Alert process) that automatically creates a work order when specific alert conditions are met. The exhibit shows an alert tied to customer Contoso with the auto-create work order rule triggered, so the system generates a work order for that customer. Assignment to a specific technician requires Resource Scheduling Optimization or manual dispatch, which is a separate step.

Answer

A work order is created and assigned to the nearest technician

Answer

The alert is logged and no further action is taken

Answer

A notification is sent to the dispatcher but no work order is created

Question 2

Refer to the exhibit. A technician arrives within 1.5 miles of a customer site. What is expected to happen?

Accepted Answer

A notification is sent to the customer that the technician is nearby. The exhibit shows that geofencing is enabled with a 1.5-mile radius. When the technician enters the geofence, the system can trigger an action such as sending a notification to the customer that the technician is nearby. Option D is correct because this is a common geofencing action in Dynamics 365 Field Service. Option A is incorrect because the booking status does not automatically change to 'In Progress' upon entering the geofence; that requires manual action or a different trigger. Option B is incorrect because the work order is not automatically completed by geofencing; completion typically requires the technician to mark it done. Option C is incorrect because geofencing does not sync all offline data; offline sync is controlled by separate settings.

Answer

The booking status changes to 'In Progress'

Answer

The work order is automatically completed

Answer

The mobile app syncs all offline data

Question 3

A company uses Dynamics 365 Field Service to manage work orders. A dispatcher needs to quickly identify which technicians are available and closest to a new service location. Which tool should the dispatcher use?

Accepted Answer

Schedule board. The Schedule Board in Dynamics 365 Field Service is the primary dispatch tool that provides a real-time, interactive view of technician availability, location, and work order requirements. It uses map integration and resource filters to show which technicians are closest to a service location, enabling dispatchers to quickly assign work orders based on proximity and availability. The board also supports drag-and-drop scheduling and manual adjustments, making it ideal for rapid, visual decision-making.

Question 4

A field service organization wants to automatically generate work orders from IoT alerts when equipment crosses a temperature threshold. Which Dynamics 365 capability should they use?

Accepted Answer

Connected Field Service. Connected Field Service is the Dynamics 365 capability that integrates IoT devices with Field Service so that device telemetry — such as a temperature reading crossing a threshold — automatically triggers an alert that generates a work order. This is exactly the 'IoT alert to work order' automation the organization needs. It removes manual monitoring and dispatches a technician as soon as the anomaly is detected.

Question 5

A company using Dynamics 365 Field Service has technicians who often arrive at jobs without the correct parts, causing delays. They want to ensure technicians have the necessary inventory before arriving. What is the best approach?

Accepted Answer

Configure inventory journals and pick lists on work orders. Dynamics 365 Field Service uses inventory journals and pick lists on work orders to track parts consumption and ensure technicians are assigned the correct inventory before arriving on site. By configuring these, the system can flag required parts on the work order, generate pick lists for warehouse staff, and reconcile inventory after the job — directly preventing technicians from arriving without the necessary parts.

Question 6

A field service manager wants to track the total time a technician spends on a work order, including travel and on-site work, for billing and payroll purposes. Which entity should they use?

Accepted Answer

Time entry. Time entries in Dynamics 365 Field Service record the actual time a technician spends on a work order, including travel, on-site work, and breaks, and can be linked to a role, duration, and billing type. They are the entity used for capturing billable and payroll-relevant time against work orders.

Question 7

An organization uses Dynamics 365 Field Service and wants to automatically prioritize work orders based on customer SLA and urgency. They configure Booking Rules. What is the primary purpose of Booking Rules?

Accepted Answer

To define how work orders are prioritized and assigned to resources. Booking Rules in Dynamics 365 Field Service define the logic that determines how work orders are prioritized and how they are matched and assigned to the most appropriate resources. They let organizations encode SLA commitments, urgency, and resource constraints so the scheduling engine automatically ranks and routes work. This directly supports the scenario's goal of prioritizing work orders based on customer SLA and urgency.

Answer

To manage inventory levels at warehouses

Answer

To send notifications to customers about technician arrival

Answer

To customize the mobile app form layout

Question 8

A company using Dynamics 365 Field Service needs to ensure that only certified technicians are assigned to electrical work orders. Which feature should they use?

Accepted Answer

Resource skills and certifications. Resource skills and certifications in Dynamics 365 Field Service allow dispatchers and the scheduling engine to match work orders with technicians who possess the required qualifications. By tagging electrical work orders with a required skill/certification and assigning that same skill to certified technicians, the system prevents unqualified resources from being booked. This is the built-in mechanism for enforcing competency-based assignment.

Question 9

A field service organization uses Dynamics 365 Field Service and wants to reduce the number of truck rolls by resolving issues remotely. Which feature enables remote collaboration between technicians and experts?

Accepted Answer

Dynamics 365 Remote Assist. Dynamics 365 Remote Assist enables technicians in the field to collaborate with remote experts using mixed-reality video calls, annotations, and screen sharing, allowing experts to see what the technician sees and guide them through repairs. This directly reduces truck rolls by resolving issues remotely.

Question 10

Which TWO components can be used to define the work that needs to be performed on a work order in Dynamics 365 Field Service? (Choose two.)

Accepted Answer

Incident type. Incident type (C) is correct because it acts as a template that bundles together the typical service tasks, products, and services needed for a common repair or job, so selecting it on a work order automatically defines the work to be performed. Service task (D) is correct because it is the individual line-level record on a work order that specifies a discrete unit of work to be completed, including instructions, estimated duration, and required skills. Together, incident types provide the template of tasks and service tasks represent the actual work items generated on the work order. Service (A) is a sellable labor or service offering used for pricing and billing rather than the definition of work steps, Product (B) represents inventory or parts consumed on the job, and Resource requirement (E) specifies who or what is needed to perform the work rather than defining the work itself.

Question 11

Which THREE capabilities are provided by Dynamics 365 Field Service to improve first-time fix rates? (Choose three.)

Accepted Answer

Remote Assist. Remote Assist (A) is correct because it lets technicians connect via mixed-reality video calls with remote experts who can annotate the technician's view in real time, enabling on-site resolution of complex issues without a second visit. Connected Field Service (B) is correct because IoT telemetry triggers automated alerts and even creates work orders when a device fails, so technicians arrive with the right parts and diagnostics before the problem escalates. Inventory management (E) is correct because tracking truck stock, warehouses, and replenishment ensures technicians carry the correct parts and quantities, directly preventing return visits caused by missing components. The schedule board (C) is a dispatch and resource-scheduling tool that optimizes routing and booking but does not itself resolve the technical problem on the first visit, and Customer Voice (D) is a survey/feedback capability used to measure satisfaction after service, not to improve the fix itself.
