1Y0-204 Site Deployment and Configuration — All Questions With Answers

Question 1

An administrator needs to deploy a new Delivery Controller into an existing Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops 7 Site. Which prerequisite must be completed before joining the new Controller to the existing site database?

Accepted Answer

Ensure the SQL Server allows Windows Authentication and the machine account has access. Joining a new Delivery Controller requires configuring database permissions and using the correct existing Site database connection string. The Controller communicates directly with this database during the join process to retrieve global site configuration data. Ensuring network access over SQL ports is vital before attempting to run the configuration wizard.

Answer

Manually install the Virtual Delivery Agent software on the Controller machine

Answer

Create a dedicated organizational unit in Active Directory for the Controller

Answer

Run the Citrix Studio installation separately prior to setting up the database connection

Question 2

An administrator is installing a new Citrix Delivery Controller in an existing site. Which database access script should the administrator run first to provision the Site database on Microsoft SQL Server before creating the Controller services?

Accepted Answer

Citrix script generator output containing Site.sql. Before configuring the Controller or creating the Site, the database administrator must manually run the database creation scripts generated by Studio or exported via PowerShell. This ensures appropriate permissions are granted and database schemas exist, allowing the new Controller to successfully register and communicate with the site database infrastructure during the Join-Site process.

Answer

CreateSiteDatabase.ps1

Answer

New-BrokerDatabase.sql

Answer

SetupSiteDB.exe

Question 3

A Citrix administrator needs to deploy Virtual Delivery Agents (VDAs) across two hundred virtual machines simultaneously using Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager. Which VDA installation command-line switch ensures an unattended installation without prompting for a reboot, even if a pending system restart is detected?

Accepted Answer

/quiet /noreboot. Deploying VDAs at scale via electronic software distribution tools requires silent, unattended switches. The /quiet switch suppresses all graphical user interfaces and prompts. Combining it with /noreboot prevents the installer from forcing an immediate system restart, allowing the administrator to coordinate reboots during designated maintenance windows to maintain infrastructure stability.

Answer

/silent /forcerestart

Answer

/passive /promptrestart

Answer

/unattended /noredirect

Question 4

Which TWO actions must an administrator perform when preparing a master image virtual machine for provisioning via Machine Creation Services (MCS)? (Choose two.)

Accepted Answer

Run Sysprep to generalize the operating system. Preparing a master image for MCS requires running the Windows System Preparation tool (Sysprep) to generalize the operating system, ensuring unique security identifiers (SIDs) and computer names are generated for each cloned VDA. Additionally, the administrator must install the VDA software cleanly and configure it appropriately before shutting down the virtual machine to take the snapshot.

Answer

Configure static IP addresses within network adapter properties

Answer

Join the master image permanently to the target Active Directory domain

Answer

Enable Windows Automatic Updates to run on startup

Question 5

A Citrix administrator has completed the installation of the first Delivery Controller in a new Site. When attempting to launch Citrix Studio for the first time to configure the Site, the connection fails with a database access error. What is the most likely root cause of this failure?

Accepted Answer

The administering user account lacks sufficient database roles such as securityadmin and db_owner on the SQL Server instance.. Citrix Studio relies on the network service account or the authenticated administrator's credentials to connect to the SQL Server hosting the Site database. If appropriate SQL Server permissions, such as db_owner on the Site database or sysadmin on the server instance, have not been granted, Studio cannot initialize configuration queries, resulting in connection failure.

Answer

The Citrix Broker Service is running under the Local System account instead of a domain user account.

Answer

TCP port 1433 is blocked between the Delivery Controller and the SQL Server hosting the Site database.

Answer

The Citrix License Server is unreachable from the newly installed Delivery Controller during the initial bootstrap phase.

Question 6

An administrator is deploying a new Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops 7 site. During the database creation phase using Citrix Studio, the administrator receives a connection error stating that the SQL Server instance cannot be reached. Network connectivity is confirmed, and the SQL Browser service is running. What is the most likely cause of this deployment failure?

Accepted Answer

TCP/IP protocol is disabled by default in SQL Server Configuration Manager for the targeted instance.. Database creation in Citrix Studio requires specific permissions and configuration settings. By default, dynamic TCP/IP ports might be used by SQL Server, or the SQL Server instance is not configured to accept remote connections via TCP/IP. Ensuring TCP/IP is enabled and statically configured resolves the connection failure during the core site deployment process.

Answer

The local Windows Firewall on the Delivery Controller is blocking outbound TCP traffic on port 1433.

Answer

The Delivery Controller computer account lacks 'dbcreator' and 'securityadmin' server roles on the SQL instance.

Answer

The Citrix Broker Service is stopped on all Delivery Controllers participating in the new site configuration.

Question 7

An administrator is setting up a new Citrix Site in an environment where the SQL Database team requires that they create the databases manually using scripts. After the DBA has initialized the empty database containers, which action must the administrator take to properly complete the site configuration?

Accepted Answer

Run the configuration scripts provided by the Studio wizard on the SQL server.. In environments with strict security, Citrix administrators often lack the 'sysadmin' role required to create databases automatically. This scenario tests the knowledge of manual database initialization. Correctly applying the generated SQL scripts is vital because it bridges the gap between the empty SQL container and a functional Citrix Site configuration by building the required schema.

Answer

Assign the Citrix Full Administrator role to the SQL service account.

Answer

Restart the Citrix Desktop Service on all existing VDA machines.

Answer

Update the Licensing node in Studio to reflect the SQL server hostname.

Question 8

Refer to the exhibit. A Citrix administrator is troubleshooting database connectivity for a Site that utilizes SQL Server Mirroring. Based on the PowerShell output provided, what is the primary configuration error in the connection string?

Accepted Answer

The 'Failover Partner' attribute is missing from the connection string.. When SQL Mirroring is enabled for a Citrix Site, the connection string must explicitly define the failover partner. Without the 'Failover Partner' attribute in the connection string, the Delivery Controller will not know which secondary server to contact if the primary SQL node becomes unavailable, leading to a site outage.

Answer

The 'Integrated Security' parameter should be set to 'False'.

Answer

The 'Initial Catalog' name does not match the 'Database' field name.

Answer

The 'IsMirroring' value should be set to 'False' for manual failover.

Question 9

An administrator needs to change the License Server address for an existing Citrix Site because the previous server was decommissioned. After installing the licenses on the new server, which section in Citrix Studio should the administrator use to update this configuration for the entire Site?

Accepted Answer

The Configuration node, specifically the Licensing sub-node.. The Licensing node under the Configuration tab in Citrix Studio is the centralized location for managing license server settings. Updating the address here ensures that all Delivery Controllers in the site are informed of the change, allowing them to check out the necessary licenses for user sessions and feature enablement.

Answer

The Policies node, by creating a new 'Licensing' policy object.

Answer

The Controllers node, by editing the properties of each individual Controller.

Answer

The Zones node, by moving the License Server into the Primary Zone.

Question 10

A Citrix administrator is configuring a new Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops 7 Site. The security team requires that all communication between the Delivery Controllers and the Site database be encrypted. The administrator has configured the SQL Server with a server certificate, but the Delivery Controllers still cannot establish an encrypted connection. Which action should the administrator take to enable encryption for the database connection?

Accepted Answer

Enable the Force Encryption option in SQL Server Configuration Manager and restart the SQL Server service.. To encrypt all connections to the SQL Server, including those from the Delivery Controllers, the administrator must enable Force Encryption in SQL Server Configuration Manager and restart the SQL Server service. This forces the server to use the configured certificate for all client sessions, thereby meeting the security requirement without additional Citrix-side configuration.

Answer

Install a client certificate on each Delivery Controller and configure Citrix Studio to use it.

Answer

Configure the Delivery Controllers to use the SQL Server alias with the Encrypt=yes parameter in the connection string.

Answer

Enable IPSec between the Delivery Controllers and the SQL Server to encrypt all traffic.

Question 11

A Citrix administrator is planning the deployment of a new Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops 7 Site. The company has a policy that all Citrix infrastructure servers must be placed in a dedicated VLAN with limited internet access. The administrator needs to install the Citrix License Server and configure it for high availability. Which action should the administrator take to ensure the License Server remains available if the primary License Server fails?

Accepted Answer

Install a secondary License Server and configure it to allow the primary License Server to fail over to it.. To provide high availability for the Citrix License Server, the administrator should install a secondary License Server and configure it to allow the primary License Server to fail over to it. This is the supported Citrix method and ensures that license checks continue if the primary server becomes unavailable.

Answer

Configure the License Server with a secondary License Server that points to the same license file on a shared storage location.

Answer

Install the License Server on two separate servers and configure them to share the same license file using a distributed file system.

Answer

Install the License Server on a failover cluster and configure the Citrix Licensing service as a clustered resource.

Question 12

A Citrix administrator is preparing a new master image for a Machine Creation Services (MCS) catalog. The image must be usable by both Windows 10 single-session and Windows Server 2019 multi-session VDAs. Which action should the administrator take to ensure the master image is properly prepared?

Accepted Answer

Install the VDA in Master Image mode on the master VM.. For MCS, the master image must have the VDA installed in Master Image mode. This mode prepares the VM for cloning by resetting identity and allowing MCS to inject the appropriate configuration during catalog creation. Other methods such as Sysprep or PVS imaging are not used with MCS and would not produce a supported master image.

Answer

Install the VDA in Standard mode and then run the Citrix Provisioning Services Imaging Wizard.

Answer

Run Sysprep with the /generalize option on the master VM.

Answer

Convert the VM to a template and configure it as a machine catalog master.

The Hypervisor (Hosting) connection details.

Answer

The StoreFront server URL for the site.

Question 17

A Citrix administrator is configuring a new Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops 7 Site. The security team requires all communication between the Delivery Controllers and the Site database to be encrypted. The database is Microsoft SQL Server 2017 with a valid certificate installed. Which action should the administrator take to meet this requirement?

Accepted Answer

Enable SQL Server Force Encryption on the database server and ensure the Delivery Controllers trust the certificate.. To encrypt all traffic between Delivery Controllers and the SQL database, the administrator should enable Force Encryption on the SQL Server instance. This forces SSL/TLS for all connections, and the Controllers must trust the certificate. This approach satisfies the security requirement without additional Citrix configuration, as the encryption is handled at the database layer and Citrix services will automatically use it.

Answer

Enable TLS 1.2 on the Delivery Controllers and set the SQL connection string to use Encrypt=True.

Answer

Install and configure Citrix ADC to perform SSL offloading for database traffic.

Answer

Configure the Delivery Controllers to use Windows Integrated Authentication for database connections.

Question 18

A Citrix administrator is preparing a new Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops 7 Site that will use a single Microsoft SQL Server database for the Site configuration and monitoring. The SQL Server is on a separate VLAN, and the administrator wants to minimize the number of ports opened through the firewall between the Delivery Controllers and the SQL Server. Which port must be open on the firewall to allow the Delivery Controllers to communicate with the SQL Server by default?

Accepted Answer

TCP 1433. Microsoft SQL Server accepts client connections on TCP 1433 by default. The Delivery Controllers must reach the Site database on that port unless a custom port was assigned during SQL Server configuration. Therefore, opening TCP 1433 between the Delivery Controllers and the SQL Server satisfies the connectivity requirement while keeping firewall changes to a minimum.

Answer

TCP 389

Answer

TCP 8080

Answer

TCP 1521

Question 19

A Citrix administrator is building a new Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops 7 Site. The security team requires that the Citrix Studio console used by the help desk team connect to the Site database through a dedicated listener that is not the primary SQL Server instance, and that the connection survive a database failover without editing Studio's configuration. Which SQL Server feature should the administrator implement before creating the Site?

Accepted Answer

SQL Server Always On availability group with an availability group listener. The requirement is a stable, dedicated connection endpoint that follows the active database during a failover. An Always On availability group listener supplies exactly that: a virtual name and IP that clients use, with redirection handled by the cluster. Mirroring, log shipping, and replication each either require client-side repointing or are not designed to present a transparent failover endpoint to Citrix Studio and the Delivery Controllers.

Answer

SQL Server log shipping to a secondary server in a different subnet

Answer

SQL Server database mirroring with a witness server

Answer

SQL Server replication with a dedicated distributor instance

Question 20

A Citrix administrator is deploying a new Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops 7 Site. The organization requires that the Site database be highly available and automatically fail over to a secondary server if the primary fails. The database team has configured SQL Server Always On availability groups. Which action must the administrator take when creating the Site database?

Accepted Answer

Specify the availability group listener name as the database server.. For SQL Server Always On availability groups, the Delivery Controller must connect to the availability group listener, which routes connections to the current primary replica. This enables automatic failover. Specifying individual server names or enabling other features like Database Mirroring is incorrect and would not provide the required high availability.

Answer

Specify both SQL Server names separated by a comma.

Answer

Specify the secondary SQL Server name and set it as the principal.

Answer

Specify the primary SQL Server name and enable Database Mirroring.
